RE: RPI report card for UAB and opponents
People who are belittling the significance of the RPI and just how bad our conference and SOS are are being naive. They're both very important to our at large chances. We are really going to have to rack up the wins to have any shot at an at large. Bright side is it should be easier than ever to win our conference tourney.

MT, USM and UTEP are the only other teams in CUSA with Top 100 wins. Wow. At least Charlotte has a win over Michigan, which should be Top 100.

im a big fan of bracketmatrix.com, as it lays out a whole bunch of different brackets (as we get closer to march, the # of included brackets increases).
well, we're now included in 1 bracket (bleacher report) as an at large…hey…its a start

Pomeroy has Michigan at 23. The Massey Composite has Michigan with a mean of 53.66 and a median of 38.0.

RE: RPI report card for UAB and opponents
Pomeroy still ranks C-USA as the 15th best conference, even after UTEP's fiasco last night.

Four teams are ranked in the top 100: Southern Miss - 73, La Tech - 74, UAB - 83, and Charlotte - 100.

The 14th ranked conference, the CAA, only has two teams in the top 100. The 13th ranked conference, the Ivy League, only has two teams in the top 100. The 12th ranked conference, the Horizon Conference, has only one top 100 team. The 11th ranked conference, the Missouri Valley, has two. The 10th ranked conference, the Mountain West, has four teams in the top 100.

My point is the upper tier of C-USA is holding its own. Unfortunately, there are seven teams in C-USA ranked from 212 to 327.

The A-10 is ranked 8th by Pomeroy. They have 7 teams in the top 100, and an eight team is 101.

The ACC is ranked 2nd by Pomeroy. They have 12 teams in the top 100.

I think most of us has followed college basketball enough to know the importance of RPI and SOS. Most of us just know it is still too early to freak out about it.

Very true. And with the way our conference has been performing recently, it might be better if we had no more games to play OOC. We really need to win at LSU. That is one of the last games we have on our schedule that can really help our RPI.

So you think our conference is going to magically improve to #1 in the RPI overnight?

We're a third of the way through the season. When is not too early to start worrying?

Again, if you don't like discussing and talking about things like this, why do you insist on reading and commenting in these threads?

Really dude, get a grip. The sky isn't falling. What is the purpose of worrying about something you have no control over? UAB has a chance to build a decent resume. Maybe the RPI will be suspect. Maybe the SOS will be so-so. If you believe the only chance for UAB to make the Dance is to win the conference tourney, then why worry about the regular season games?

Nope. You're not allowed to talk about this stuff so far in advance.

RE: RPI report card for UAB and opponents
This part of the season is when teams work to get those good OOC wins that help them make the postseason. It is also when teams get the bugs out, getting ready for the conference games to come. Teams that are not doing well in this part of the season become the teams that we beat on the road only to watch our RPI go up with a road win.

That's why we're concerned about it. It ain't rocket surgery.

Since when tourney seeding has mattered for UAB??? Certainly not during Mike Davis tenure.....lol
