The Buffalo game against Manhattan on Dec. 21 is not a home game for UB. The game is actually being played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY where the Brooklyn Nets play.

Two big games for Ohio this week. UMass #2 rpi team and @Richmond top 50 rpi currently. Not yet sold on Ohio being a top 100 team. This week should tell us where Ohio really is. Are they a legit top 50-100 team or are they 100-150 team that just hasn't been exposed yet. Oakland loss kinda says 100-150 rpi team is where Ohio really is. So does the close call vs Morgan State. This is their opportunity to change that perception and say that the wins over Northern Iowa, Valpo are more closer to what Ohio is. Last year Ohio was thumped bad in every big game where they packed it in where things didn't go their way. MAC needs Ohio to step up and build on the success that Toledo is having. Akron and Kent State also need to start winning the big games. Ranked team coming into the Convo. That hasn't happed in a long time. UMass might be as good as that ranking indicates if they get past Ohio. UMass so far has passed every test with ease.

the students are not on campus now, unfortunately. the administration is pushing the game as hard as it can to the townies by offering $5.00 tickets. hopefully it will help bring in some people, but I don't look for a crowd bigger than 4,000 or so. bad timing for this big game!

Beating Ohio proves that UMass deserves to be ranked? Huh?

but if they don't beat us, does that prove they should not be ranked?

Akron's RPI was around 45 before they played Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. What a hit to the SOS that was.

Luckily there will be plenty of opportunities to pick up good wins for the rest of December.

that's a bit different from what realtimerpi.com and rpiforecast.com have. they both show-

46 Toledo
81 Ohio
85 Eastern Michigan
98 Akron
112 Bowling Green
126 Kent State
172 Miami
208 Western Michigan
214 Buffalo
220 Ball State
231 Northern Illinois
238 Central Michigan

does that site use a power ranking component to their rpi or something?

I don't think so. They have their own power rating called State. You can see the Deep RPI there, too, which shows all three RPI factors for each team: Games Played/Opponents/Opponents' Opponents.

Basketball State is a stats offshoot of the old Mid-Majority site.

The problem with RPI is that it is designed to show relative strength at the end of the season, certainly not when we're less than a third of the way through it.

I also think some web sites recalculate more often than others os you may be seeing a snap shot of one specific time on one site and then another time slightly before or after on another. I think on the real time site it said it updates every 30 minutes or so.

Akron beats Oral Roberts 74 to 64 in what I suspect will be one of the ugliest games I'll see all season. There were fifty two fouls called in forty minutes thanks to this ref in particular going on an ego trip. He averages 49 fouls called per game this season, and apparently that's still not high enough.

Toledo looking like the top contender this year in the MAC. Impressive road win over a decent Sun Belt team. Those type of games are a good barometer of what it will be like in conference play. Can you win on the road. Toledo clearly has done that during the non-conference slate. The rest of the MAC has not done that consistently. Advantage Toledo. Also Toledo does draw well at home so its a real home court advantage. Going to very hard to beat Toledo in Savage. Rockets have an experienced team and loaded with talent. Toledo is for real folks. Akron, Ohio and Kent St better be prepared because Toledo will be a handful this year.
