New Orleans Bowl to move in 2014
All of the complaints about UL having a lock on the New Orleans bowl as long as they are eligible can stop now. According to Wikipedia, the bowl will most likely move to Tulane's new stadium next year. With a maximum capacity of 30,000 they will not be able to accomidate our fan base. Under the new College Football Playoff system, stadiums that host the six "access games" are not allowed to host other bowl games. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Bowl
That reference has been removed from the link above since I posted this thread. However, you can find it in the "Revenue" section of this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_Football_Playoff
Here's a link to a reference that can't be altered: http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2013...letic-bowl

Not allowed to host other bowl games? That's maddening. There is no reason for that other than to try to squeeze out smaller conference bowling.

Your administration might be more inclined to look for different bowls, but I'm sure you guys will still find yourselves in NOLA on occasion.
I guess the new rule could put to bed thoughts of a second bowl in Atlanta, unless perhaps the new Braves stadium would like to host one.

Georgia Dome is not a "access game" host. They are free to hold as many bowls as they wish.

An instance of G5 conferences signing up to willingly swallow restraint of trade I guess. smh

Am I misunderstanding what you mean by access bowls? Also Georgia Dome will only be the home for a few more years...
Starting with the 2014 season, the game will feature College Football Playoff matchups, with the 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025 games featuring a national semifinal, and the playoff selection committee selecting the matchup in other years.[3] It has been reported that the new playoff system will require the game's name to be changed back to Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl for consistency with the other playoff bowls.[4][5] However, it is still called Chick-fil-A Bowl by both its own website and the playoff system website.[6]

I didn't realize they would be hosting playoff games. I assume that would be considered an "access game". I'll have to do more research. Either way, losing the SuperDome will open the door to more Sun Belt teams to get invites to the New Orleans Bowl since ticket sales will not be a major factor. Prior to UL's participation, the bowl averaged under 30,000. Since UL participation, it will average over 50K over a three year period.

It had to be someone associated with the New Orleans Bowl that would have erased the reference of the move from the New Orleans Bowl listing on wikipedia. I'm surprised that it was kept a secret for this long. They've been knowing about this since at least April.

I don't think folks were complaining about it per se, but moreover noting the difficulties schools not Cajun would have in getting an invite there.
Me? I hate it for my school, but it makes total sense why it happens.

According to Scott a Kushner with the New Orleans Advocate Tulane will be announcing at 11am tomorrow Tuesday that it has accepted the invitation to play the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl.

This is probably the only time you will hear this so nicely but I'm really glad that Tulane is going bowling and even better that we get to play you guys in the Superdome. Should be one of the biggest crowds for a non BCS game. Good luck.

Agreed. The 48K in Red and the 12K in Green will make for a great bowl atmosphere.
