That's what I'm saying, if the 15k "rule" were ever going to be enforced, EMU could have been dropped at any point over the last decade.

DOnt tell that to Jerry Glanville...THeir was an article about him begging Eastern Michigan to let him coach them..he is 72 years old..

Given the Belt's footprint the biggest competition are the P5 schools that share it.

Given the roadblocks that exist between Arkansas and stAte playing, Troy and Alabama/Auburn, etc, the Belt really ought to take any of these opportunities that it can.

I don't blame ULM, and if I ever did they made up for it.

Traditionally, the Arkansas/SBC game has been their opportunity to lord it over us for a week and transmit their superiority over us vicariously through our conference mates.

We had one great year where all we had to say was "ULM" any time they slammed our conference or asserted that we could never, ever, beat them if they were brave enough to schedule us. This year we are back to "we destroyed the best team in your conference". But it was a great year last year.

I think they've scheduled a Sun Belt team every year since the conference formed. But none on the schedule next year. It will be interesting to see if the whole Sun Belt is added to the "no-play" list to join us and The Citadel.

Bill Snyder thinks he is too young....needs more seasoning.

A few years back I compared EMU's attendance to FCS and DII and it was staggering, IIRC they wouldn't even have been in the top ten in DII. I'll search for that post later, but the search function on this site doesn't seem to work on my phone.

I was able to find the post I was talking about regarding EMU's attendance.

2009: 5,016
2010: 15,885
2011: 4,267

Perhaps opening the season with two consecutive FCS games had an effect, but I can't imagine a program that was so starved for wins would care that much. It's possible they just really lied last season, but why go from not lying, to lying, back to not lying in a three year period?

For some perspective, going off of 2010 numbers, 4,267 would have been:
92nd in FCS coming in just ahead of Savannah State
37th in DII coming in just ahead of Kutztown University
13th in DIII coming in just ahead of Otterbein University
