And coach Donaho was let go because ...?
Because Donaho was pulled over with pot in the car not drug tested
I think he also had a hired guest in the car as well
I don't believe that. Donaho paid a heavy price for an offense for which he ultimately was never convicted. However, let's not go putting a prostitute in the car!
I may have missremembered but I thought it was public knowledge at the time.

Did I say that?
I'm saying he lost his job and his prominant career as a very good assistant coach over this event that DID happen. However, he wasn't convicted of anything, and there's no indication that any other illegal activity occurred (i.e. prostitution).
Sorry if I'm a little defensive of Coach Donaho. I know him personally since I played here when he coached, and I even discussed this situation with him a couple of years ago. He was wrong and he paid dearly for it, but let's not add to it.

Pot in the car, I heard.
The presence of a lady of negotiable virtue, I did not hear.

What I do feel positive about is that we have not had that quality of D line since he left. I wish him well at his coaching job in Tenn.

The rumor was that he took the fall for a family member. I don't know it that was correct or not.
I do know that more than one poster here has some experience with illegal green leafy vegetable substances. That does not excuse anything, but this wasn't a Jerry Sandusky level of offense. The school had no real choice but to let him go though.

Please, Donohoe's situation doesn't even come close to the worse scandal in UAB Football history.

Apparently Lane Kiffin secretly supplied the pot and let Carl take the fall. As a result Kiffin will now be in the running for FAU job. This is straight from my source Ray Melick.

RE: Carl Pelini has resigned at FAU
When a coach at a BCS school gets "busted", he falls down to UTEP, UCF, or WKY. Where does a "busted" coach from an FAU level school go to restore himself? Stetson? Florida Gulf Coast?

Hey guys. Can you find the veiled Bama reference?
You ARE getting positively paranoid. Even I missed that one. BTW, Could it just as well have been a veiled Notre Dame or Arkansas reference?

Maybe he had it.
Plus two wins doesn't buy you second chances.
being verbally abusive to coworkers also doesn't help

This was a question asked of the AD in Wednesday's press conference:
From this CBS Sports story:
Quote:When asked if the case would have been handled differently if Pelini were 20-0 instead of 5-15, Chun said, "No, I would hope it wouldn't (have)."
Not a very definitive answer, showing that ethics and morals in sports fluctuate with the wins total.

Really?
I can't remember the last job I didn't have to pee in a cup for.
There would be no faculty left in the Arts and Humanities departments if UAB drug tested.

1. As a Arts and Humanity grad (old school:). I can confirm the failure of drug tests by every staff member I knew. And I mean ALL.
2. If you had to coach at UAB...wouldn't you smoke a bit of weed every night??
3. So quickly we forget the massive rape scandal that was promptly swept under the carpet.
