That can be a very, very double-edged sword, my friend. Trust me from experience 03-banghead

Its a different situation. Ruff is a an alum and a pirate letterwinner. He bleeds purple and gold and isnt looking to go anywhere else. Its up to us whether or not its his time to part ways. You need a coach who has a certain passion for USM and wont leave for greener pastures just for a bigger payday. Ruff isnt going anywhere, especially if he has the type of season we are on the brink of having. Good luck the rest of the season. Once you get the 0fer monkey off your back and get that first win then your guys will love that feeling and will never want to be back in that place.

certain passion????....omfg who teaches this logic?????

It's a job. You do the job or you find someone that can. Period.

I would lay 1:6 if Ruff was offered 2x salary.....bye-bye

Ruff is great guy and has done well finally bringing together a good staff and is good recruiter. As for being an X's and O's coach? That remains to be seen. ECU is likely his last HC job at a major college. That being said...I am pulling for him and I hope he has a long career at ECU.

unc could be looking for a coach soon. wouldn't that be a kick in the crotch?* lfed isn't exactly setting anyone's baby blue heart aflutter in crapple hill. yesterday, in true fedora-esque fashion, his offense had 500 yards, and he lost.

*yeah, I know. but this is the sort of bottomless pessimism that overtakes you when you're 0-for-the obama administration . . . or whatever we are.

Ruff PLAYED for ECU. Call me naive but I don't see him going anywhere else and especially not UNC. Forget about coaching, people around here have seen what kind of person he is and how much he cares about ECU.

Maybe if the exact right situation comes up under the exact right set of circumstances, but definitely not at Cryowhina. Especially considering he played here in the 70s. He knows what UNC is and what they have done to ECU. To even think he could coach there makes me want to 03-puke.

yep.....naive....sticking with the $$$$$$ principle...fk the peter principle....coaches are narcissistic by nature....maybe ECU does have a 'Bower' or 'Beemer', but my bet is on $$$$$$ and 'they' will call if for no other reason to more than to 'diversify'....which is okay in my book plus he can coach....that means much more

....remember a couple of years ago a number of yaz was calling for his head??? lmfao

btw, your tube vids are well done

RE: Dear USM
Mullens needs to play well for a full game before I'd anoint him. If he DOES do that versus NTU, we have a chance to win, and then some potential in the rest of our games. But our OLine right now is woeful, so I really don't know what to expect.

Unless Ruffin gets a BIG offer from somewhere else, I'd expect him to retire (or get fired) from ECU. There's NO chance he'd ever go to UNC. He wouldn't dare invite that level of hatred upon himself. As an ECU grad, an outside offer would have to be pretty big. Bower had the same situation at USM, and like a buddy of mine posted earlier, it's a double-edged sword. If Ruffin ever gets complacent, you will suffer and he'll be difficult to remove.

Monken will leave for greener pastures if he has success at USM. I have no problem with that. Fedora left for $1.7 million. With a stadium that seats around 40k (if we add temp bleachers) on a good day, we have no way to match that dollar amount. ECU can seat around 50k. Your ACC neighbors can seat more and have bigger TV contract $ to potentially hire away anyone they really want. Ruffin might not go to UNC (or NCSU, Wake, or Duke), but Clemson, Georgia Tech, or Miami might be able to lure him away. Never say never.

For there even to be post where ECU fans have to defend Ruff's loyalty is absurd. Anyone on the other side of the "debate" is trolling/stirring-the-pot, because if they aren't, they must be taking the weed intravenously.

Pinkney?

I thought James Pinkney was better than James, but didn't have as much talent around him. I think Davis was better than both of the Pinkneys, but he played in a totally different offense so it's hard to tell... he is in the NFL now, so the NFL scouts at least agree with me.

Too soon for me to know if Carden is better than Davis, but so far, he is better statistically:

Code:
Davis
YEAR    TEAM    CMP    ATT    PCT    YDS    AVG    TD    LNG    INT    RAT
2010    ECU     393    609    64.5    3967    6.5    37    77    16    134.0
2011    ECU     334    494    67.6    3225    6.5    25    84    19    131.5
Carden
YEAR    TEAM    CMP    ATT    PCT    YDS    AVG    TD    LNG    INT    RAT
2012    ECU     273    413    66.1    3116    7.5    23    76    10    143.0
2013    ECU     228    306    74.5    2325    7.6    16    48    5    152.3

I got a late start on drugs. I never saw the need for them until just after I got married. imagine my surprise.
