Longhorn Football
As practically a lifelong fan of Texas Longhorn Football, from day one, I never thought Mack Brown was a good fit for Texas Football. Perhaps they thought they were getting another Darrell Royal, "homespun, down to earth" type coach. I have lost track of how many Assistant changes Brown has made without improving things. Does that sound familiar?

Don't I recall him winning a national championship? Out of the thousands of coaches, very few win a national championship. That buys you a lot of street cred. I don't think your comparison is valid. We've never even won an outright conference championship.

Very similar in fact. How many times has Shields gotten rid of assistants rather than taking the knife himself? You're right Doc on the fact that Shields has never won anything other than divisions(well he did back into to a tournament championship with a bad team on a lot of luck and a couple of miracles), which in reality would place us about third or fourth in the combined league. At least Brown has won something. But, still the heat is on him now, because most programs insist on winning most of the time. A few bad or mediocre years, and Coach Jesus Christ himself would have been on the ropes at most schools. Good programs don't put up with what we've had to endure.
