RE: 2013 NCAA MEN’S BASKETBALL ATTENDANCE
I'll go:

Georgetown (biggest known brand)
St. John's (ESPN and Fox would go nuts if they got great again)
Marquette (best program in the Midwest, 40 mins from Chicago, need to stretch BE footprint)
Villanova
Xavier
(DePaul)

We will just have to agree to disagree if 2004 was a true statement or just a blip on the radar in a 26 year span.

They also went to the tourney nearly every year from 1976 to 1992. I don't think its fair to say "3 decades." Creighton hasn't been to the S16 since 1974 - have they been down for 3 decades too?

Read the thread, I never once mentioned Creighton in this conversation!

Question being discussed: Anyone, please name the top five teams in order that will help benefit the Big East's progression going forward. i.e. put eyes on the TV

Georgetown
St. John's
Villanova
Marquette
Xavier

DePaul was later brought into the conversation by NJRedman. Read bolded point above in regards to Depaul. Creighton, Seton Hall, Butler & Providence were not discussed in this conversation.

No, you weren't. But you went ahead and said "DePaul has been down for 3 decades." Which is wrong and you were called out on it.

Truth hurts, DePaul has been down since 1987, 26 years almost three decades. What are you calling out?

Who does the truth hurt? You obviously since your claims are incorrect. Like he said, DePaul made the NCAA tourny from '76-'92. Thats not 30 years of being down. You can't just admit that you over exaggerated your point. Thats the truth that hurts.

DePaul has not been to the Sweet 16 since 1987. Winning a conference title split five ways in CUSA (2004) and not being ranked in the top 25 to end that season is not making a dent. I'll repeat again. They have not made any noise since 1987 (26 years). Quickly approaching 3 decades.

First off, you don't get to crap on winning a conference title. You don't get to set-up subjective definitions to fit your arguments. Marquette's Big East title was split 3-ways, but don't even try to tell me that it doesn't count. Also, everyone kind of forgets DePaul went 9-7 in 2007. Villanova, UConn and Marquette all got in the tourney with less than that.

Secondly, you apparently have your own definition of being "down" and now have switched that to "making noise" in the tourney. Creighton hasn't "made noise" since 1974 but have made 10 of the last 15 tournaments, therefore are you saying they've been down as well?

Making the tourney through 1992 to me means they were not down. At best you can say its been 20 years of irrelevancy. I don't know why you're trying to hard to fight for the extra decade. No need to bury DePaul more than they already have been.

And lastly, this is an argument of which teams could theoretically help the Big East the most by being good or dominant - I don't see a good argument against DePaul in that regard. They're the largest Catholic university in the nation in the 2nd largest television market.
