Bad. A true superstar on a good team who acts like a diva and risks the delicate chemistry with his horrible attitude. (Example: Barry Bonds/Pirates and Giants)

Worse. A true superstar on a bad team who could probably get the others to play harder and better if he would set the right example, but he doesn't because he's a selfish jacka$$. (Example: Allen Iverson/Sixers)

Intolerable. A delusional decent player who thinks he's a superstar just because the team is good and he happens to be one of the pieces that gets the most attention, so he acts like a diva and drives everybody insane. (Example: John Rocker/Braves)

Worthy of Murder. A delusional player who thinks he's a superstar on a team that sucks so bad that he's only considered "good" because everybody else is terrible, but he acts like a diva and drives everybody else insane. (Example: Chad Ochocinco/Bengals)

In other words, if he was acting like you describe, Jackie Williams is lucky McGee didn't murder him instead of just kick him off the team.

Where does 'prima donna that hits opposing players 5-10 seconds after a play is over and trash talks them in front of a referee while the game is on the line, drawing a personal foul' fit into your spectrum? We used to have one of those, and he is now the highest profile product of UAB's football program.

LOL! You pretty well described a lot of AU players last year.........they were horrible on defense, but ran their mouths a lot, even after getting burned on plays- lol. Last year, I thought we had pretty good sportsmanship on the field (for the most part). I know the player you are talking about was a while back.

Bad. That guy was a true superstar on a pretty good team. This guy was not a true superstar (except in his own mind) and was on a pretty bad team.

I mean, I'm totally speculating based on what some other poster said, so I have no idea if it's true or not. But generally, in my experience, coaches have a sliding scale of tolerance that is proportional to a player's value. Maybe the most rigid, disciplined coaches don't, but most do. So I guess what I'm saying is...I doubt McGee would have kicked Roddy White off the team, because he was a first-round NFL talent who became one of the five or six best receivers in the game. But either Jackie Williams wasn't good enough for it to be worth putting up with his crap anymore, or else he was good enough but wasn't really going to make a difference anyway, so he decided not to put up with his crap anymore.

Again, I have no idea if that's what actually happened. But I can imagine myself as a coach trying desperately to win in a challenging environment. If I have an actual superstar come along, I'm going to do my best to manage the problems, but it's going to take a lot to turn loose of a guy who can actually make a difference. And if I have a guy who's just good, he better make sure his value to me is constantly above the line where his attitude makes it not worth it.

It's like the Crazy/Hot scale on How I Met Your Mother. If you're THIS hot, you can be THIS crazy. But if you're only this hot, you better not be any crazier than this.
