Charlotte isn't a part of the Mid Atlantic but ODU is. Charlotte is the south.

Reality is that outside of UAB or Memphis who draws more than 4500 in the South?

Not sure if you consider NC and VA the south or Mid-Atlantic, but Charlotte and ODU both average over 6,000.

Mid Atlantic. You had to ask so...lol.
well, I consider it Mid-Atlantic, but some people think of NC as south while others think of it as Mid-Atlantic.

I think youre in the South if you think football first, second and third. People here are thinking about spring practice in December. Maybe ECU is still be in the South but most of NC and VA is very dissimilar from SC to TX

Charlotte was the HQ of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (the forerunner to WCW), so, in my mind, that puts Charlotte in the Mid-Atlantic.

Now, going off Panama's definition, Greenville and Boone are in the South (albeit a snowy South for Boone), while the rest of NC is in the Mid-Atlantic. 03-lmfao

NMSU here. (Yeah I know football only with you guys but I'd bet an all sports happens). Pan American Center seats 12424 . Was over 13K, but renovations took away some seats...in case anyone was wondering. Hope we get an all sports invite. Take care!

I don't know WKU, MTSU, USM, LaTech, etc. Should I continue?

Please do continue because I am SURE that for every school in the South that averages 4500 of more we can name 5 that don't. I am not out of line in saying that for most schools in the. South a 10k or 15k seat arena is unnecessary.

All I am saying is that if you ever want to be successful in basketball you need a larger arena. you don't need 15k, but 7-8 is a minimum. WKU's Diddle is too small.

No we dont. Even Tech doesnt sell out, not even in the Cremins years unless its NC or Duke. Hawks dont sell out either. Basketball is an afterthought here. If we ever have that problem of needing 7000 seats, Phillips is 2 blocks away.

If I am not mistaken, didn't a previous renovation at Diddle reduce the seating capacity? If it is too small, why did they reduce it further?

RE: GSU Sports Arena Court Refinishing Time Lapse
In my opinion, capacity is irrelevant. What makes or breaks a basketball venue is the fan experience and player amenities. If a venue is 40 years old and represents the finish out of that time period, players will be a little more reluctant to play there, regardless of capacity.

A 5,000 seat venue with all the bells and whistles will sound loud and attract players to the game atmosphere. On the other hand, a place like the Super Pit (10,040), which sounds empty, even with 5,000 fans and has '70's era amenities is far less attractive to potential recruits.

There are obviously other factors to recruiting, but there is no doubt the facilities and game day atmosphere play a big factor.

I would rather have less seats and a nice place like UTA then a three sided arena that seats more at Texas St.

Lots of schools in the South average more than 6,000 if you consider the ACC, SEC and Big 12.
