Can't wait to use this app to watch college football! I'm especially looking forward to be able to watch replays whenever I want to.

You save the game to the DVR?

BTW, I assume that AppleTV requires HDMI. Correct?

I actually had mine blown out. I had a telephone line connected to the television for DirecTV and apparently there was a lightning strike outside my house which fried both my phone line and my HDMI on my television. (yes, I was dumb - I didn't run the phone line through a surge protector.).

I use a component connection now for input.

If you're on WatchEspn there are all sorts of old games on there, you just click on the "Replay" tab and you get a list of earlier games, in various sports, in order by date.

Okay I went there. UP to 30 days worth of replays.

You can get much more than that. Click on the "Replay" tab, select "Football" under Sports and Shows, select "All" under Date and then type in the school you want to watch in the search box. All last season's bowl games are still available.

Do you have comcast? Have to admit, watching games on there was nice, though lots of them were blacked out during the game. I could watch the replay later though.

We do have Comcast. Last week, Comcast had a free upgrade that gave us a big boost in connection speed.

I'd like to be able to save games to DVR, but my 3rd generation Apple TV has only an HDMI output (no component outputs). I've got a 1st generation Apple TV with component outputs that I'm gonna experiment with. It'd be great to be able to output and save, but I don't know if the processor has enough horsepower.

Last year all but 1 NIU home game was at least on ESPN3.com...I believe it was like this for every team in the conference except maybe UMASS.

I expect the same thing this year where most of the MAC owned games are on ESPN3.com if not on TV.

Yeah, was the same for Miami. All of our games were on some sort if TV (ESPN/2/U/3/ERT, STO, BTN,etc) that I remember. MAC has been a little more stingy with UMass probably because of their affiliate membership status.

Here's a tip I learned if you don't have a cable provider that allows you to get ESPN3- find someone who does and borrow their username and password. My mom has it and I just used hers, multiple people can use the same ID too.

Good point.

There have numerous posts about sharing passwords. Better idea is to use PMs.

there's a guy on a board for a B1G school that openly advertises his willingness to share his account with anyone that emails him and requests it, as a protest to his local cable provider. He posts it on his facebook page too. Several people took him up on it, I doubt me merely mentioning it will change anything.

ESPN doesn't care if more people are watching, its up to the cable providers to control their own online account access.

If doing this with family, remember to remind them to set a unique password for that account, and not to use a password they use with their bank, online email, or etc.

Don't know if this was mentioned or not, but if anyone has an Apple TV, the Watch ESPN App was just added to the latest software update. I tried it this morning and the quality was much better than air play or the HDMI adapter I used for my iPad in years past.

Aug 29th - 2 on ESPN3, 1 on ESPNU, 1 TBA
Nov 5th - 2 on ESPN2/ESPNU
Nov 12th - 2 on ESPNU/ESPN3
Nov 13th - 2 on ESPN2/ESPNU
Nov 19th - 2 on ESPN2/ESPNU
Nov 29th - 5 on ESPNU/ESPN3

We don't know which channel these games will end up on. We could have 16 games on ESPNU (which not very many people have) or ESPN3, not counting the TBA on Aug 29th. I mean, NIU's game against Wisconsin 2 years ago ended up on ESPN3 for crying out loud - though in retrospect that was probably a good thing.
ESPN has to put 6 MAC owned games on ESPN2 & 5 on ESPNU along not counting the MACC

Only if they have an ISP that doesn't have ESPN3 access. AT&T will bundle their DSL (maybe U-Verse internet too) with DirecTV service and ESPN3 is available using the DSL account, particularly in places that don't have U-Verse TV service. My area doesn't have it.

I have TWC for internet because my DSL speeds were far too slow, but kept my AT&T DSL account at the minimum speed to keep ESPN3 access as a DirecTV sub. I just log in with my AT&T info and it works just fine.

I'm confused by the whole MAC and ESPN3 thing.

Am I correct that the MAC has essentially put a link on their homepage which will work ONLY for those who have an ISP which carries ESPN3?

If I'm using an iPad and didn't link it to my ISP then it wouldn't work? Correct?
