Wow. Bailey would be a big loss. I hate the idea of plugging our line with JUCOs each year - it's fine to take one every few years to meet an immediate need, but it should not have to be part of our strategy.

I completely agree. I'm surprised they'd lose a kid to ECU. In no way, shape, or form are they a better program than UC, plus UC absolutely had early PT to sell to OT prospects.

This what happens when you change position coaches a few weeks to signing day.

Yep very true. And Hiller was really well thought of and well liked from everything I've read.

Looking at the big picture I think Grimes will help more than he hurts. I think Hiller did a great job coaching pass blocking but I question the push our offensive line was able to get off the ball. Also, it seemed to me that he was able to was able to find and coach up interior linemen, but the offensive tackle position has not developed as much as it should have the past three years.

I can't argue with any of that. I thought the whole offense to be honest was disappointing the last few years. The numbers tell one story for those who never actually watched UC play, but if you actually watched them from game to game, there were serious issues with the run game, with penalties, terrible fundamentals.... Not just OL but across the board... I just hope Grimes still has the passion and fire. I always worry when coaches get to a certain age.

Dunno, but this one is:

Quote:Mike Dyer ‏@MikeDyer Jan 30
Mariemont DB/SE Collin Widecan committed to #UC as a preferred walk-on @WCPO @GoBEARCATS

Welcome to both of them!

Tubervilles local recruiting continues to be a joke

That said, I'm done pulling for Colerain, the GCL schools and any of the local schools. Pittsburgh kids seem to have no problem picking Pitt, plenty of Miami kids pick U of M. Lousiville kids have always picked u of l. These aren't hometown heroes. Not sure why we pull for any of them. I'd just as soon have Huber Heights rep this region.

Coaching turnover and the meh season killed recruiting this year. My hope lies with the new assistants.

OL-Sean Bailey

He's visiting Purdue and East Carolina. I suppose Purdue technically qualifies as P5.

Also Maryland trying to flip Perry Young and had him for a visit. This Maryland piece posted today projects him in their class.

Goodness....so essentially UC is going to have a type of class you'd get with a coaching turnover even while retaining the same underperforming head coach. Outstanding. And that credit goes to Mike Bohn who apparently is not able to see the that the light he sees at the end is the train. When you have the wrong hire you can wait it out and hope for the best or you can be proactive and cut your losses and retool. I don't know how any of us can be optimistic with the outcome of this decision. Now if you get rid of tubs next year or when his contract is up you will have more bad classes.

And is Prunty on a milk carton somewhere? That guy hasn't done much this year it seems...and probably will lose his big recruit Wallace.

+1. The entire class has been totally picked over. Even some late offers to replace earlier decommitments are being taken now (Perry Young). The longer you wait it out the worse it will get. Another year of this, likely means at least two more years added to the rebuild.

RE: FB Class of 2016
Lets see how things play out tomorrow. I'm hoping we can keep these guys but, if they don't want to come here, they shouldn't. We flipped Mbojd and Wiggins...it happens to us and for us. I'm hoping our SEC OL coach and NFL OC and RB coach, not to mention the rest of the staff, have some players up their sleeves. It is frustrating to see guys gain interest in and from other programs this late in the game, however that is the game the Bearcats are playing...and big time football is the game we want to play. Let's see how this plays out...and then we can be frustrated tomorrow if it is warranted.

Speaking of Prunty, looks like we offered 6'2 257 DT Curtis Brooks out of Danville, VA.

He has a couple offers out there, but it appears we are the biggest so far. Prunty had a vist with him the other day. He has already added the Bearcat logo to his twitter page so I would think if we want him he is ours for the taking*.

* Also I think we have taken a recruit from Danville every year under this coaching staff.

I hope you're right. Maryland's 247 site sure seems to think he's going to sign with them.
