Those numbers prove the OP's point. Troy vs UAB draws more interest than either get from their conference members. No Troy vs. Sun Belt or UAB vs. CUSA game had over 29k people.

That might be the case but not for much longer with us playing USA and ga southern and app state on board.

I cannot wait to cirlce my calendar for the first away game at Troy.

RE: Sun Belt vs CUSA rivals
Oh, no doubt Sun Belt is going to have some good regional rivalries. USA-Troy, GSU-GSU 03-wink , ULM - UL. That doesn't diminish the fact that there will also be some great "rivalries" between CUSA & Sun Belt teams. I hope administrators see that UAB - Troy, Texas State - UTSA, etc.. are good for the fans and the overall athletic programs.

I'm hoping southern fans travel to Troy well. We need more 20k+ games every year.

I thought ASU and MT had a great rivalry within the SBC.

WKU vs Marshall is not a good rivalry to start?

If you're being coy or trying to stir the pot or something I'm not getting it. Setting aside the obvious that Western's SBC days are numbered...

MT and stAte have played 14 times, Marshall and WKU have played 5 times.

MT/WKU 62 times.

Troy and UAB sound like ULM and Tech, except Troy and UAB aren't afraid to play each other. Tech would rather sit home at Bowl season than taking a chance at losing to ULM.

RE: Sun Belt vs CUSA rivals
Would love to play Charlotte on a regular basis. My ideal OOC schedule would have a home game against Charlotte or ECU every year. I imagine Charlotte's admin isn't thrilled with our move. My guess is they would have preferred to have a couple year head start recruiting wise before we start competing for FBS recruits. I think it has the makings for a great rivalry if the two schools' admins can get on the same page. Would love to see some of these other SBC-CUSA rivalries as well.

UNT has owned the Bobcats in both football and basketball over the years. Not much of a rivalry. UNT has a annual game with UT-Arlington. Both would love to have an annual Metroplex basketball tournament with TCU, SMU, UNT and UTA. TCU and SMU avoid games with either.

I think we'll set something up now that we'll both be FBS at the same time.

It made little sense to play App our first two years where we'll undoubtedly struggle against top FCS talent. At the time we were an FCS independent with no idea where our conference home would be. Hard to recruit guys to come play for the unlikely chance you get into the FCS playoffs. They couldn't even sell them on competing for conference titles.

Now we know where we will be and we have a conference to recruit to.

When we first announced FBS, but App was on the outside looking in, that pretty much ruled out playing in Boone because FBS programs simply don't play at FCS stadiums. None that I know of at least. I doubt App would agree to only play a brand new program in Charlotte on the road because that would make them look inferior despite having a long and illustrious history.

Our associate AD that handles football scheduling says the two have been in discussions about setting up games several times and that the claim that Charlotte ignored App's AD is bull****.

With Charlotte and App now being very similar (FBS transitional at the same time), I imagine we'll get a home and home set up in the future. I think the first open days either school has are in 2017.

I'd be thrilled to see it happen. I'd also like to see a home-home-neutral. The neutral would obviously be played in Charlotte, but I imagine the actual crowd would be fairly evenly split, not giving Charlotte a home field advantage.

Florida, I think WKU vs MTSU would be a much better option than A-State and Marshall. But I give you credit for including all schools from both conferences in this, and if you put WKU and MTSU together it would put A-State and Marshall in a weird place.

I would love to see it happen starting in 2017 then. I'd even be fine with what you propose, a three year rotation with (Boone, Charlotte Campus, Charlotte (B of A Stadium)).
