The room looked great and a TV in the wall worked with dark wood and maroon walls. The overall appearance of the restaurant and the food was excellent. It is a classy establishment.
There were some things that bothered us and these are the types of things that keep people from coming back. We sat down and did not get silverware until we asked for it. We bought 3 appetizers to share for the table and while they were delicious and the presentation was nice, they did not bring appetizer plates even after we asked. We sat down at 8:30 and our drink order was taken at 8:45 and we didn't get our drinks until after 9 our appetizer order wasn't taken until 9:15 and our food order wasn't taken until 10 or so minutes after we finished our appetizers. Everyone enjoyed their food, minus me (the tortellini was bland and tasted like a lean cuisine meal). Three times we went to order something and they were out, but being opening weekend and having no sale projections, I would hope this will not be a problem in the future. When we finally got our checks at 11pm (after asking twice) they messed up everyone's bill. The server could not count change and everyone's change was off. One of my party's individuals should have 15 back but instead had 5. When he asked the server he pulled a 10 out of his pocket and said he new about it even though he made no effort to fix it on his own. He also swiped two peoples cards for the wrong bill even though the cards were in the correct bill folder to what their order was when he took their cards.
Over all the issues were mostly our server and the food and atmosphere were good. One appetizer, two drinks and two meals were $55 so the price is reasonable for a upscale restaurant. The restaurant is not a sports bar and will not become a college bar. This would be a good place to take the wife and leave the kids at home.
My wife and I have reservations for 4:30 this afternoon. I will do my best to provide an objective review when I return.
Well, perhaps my expectations were a bit lowered by the above review, but my wife and I had a wonderful experience. We arrived at 4:25 and the place was packed, based on what I figured was a post-WBB crowd. The hostess even stated, "oh terrific, we were waiting for you," saying that the last remaining table was ours based on our reservation. We were approached by our server Christian within two to three minutes of our being seated. He took our drink order, a chocolate martini for my wife and a glass of red wine he recommended for me. At the same time we ordered an appetizer of "Drummies", chicken drumsticks marinated in an olive oil-basil-tomato mixture that were very good. We split a small Gradkowski Garden Salad, which had a nice parmesan ranch type dressing and wonderfully seasoned croutons. We both ordered the Steakhouse Burger, which is very good and an apparent house specialty among their burgers, since it was highly recommended by our waiter. Very good suggestion, I might add. My wife's burger was just slightly bit more pink than she may have liked, but mine was perfect. The sandwich is served with a seasoned shoestring french fries. We ended our meal sharing a slice of cheesecake, which because of its caramelized sugar topping, had a creme-broulet type flair.
Bruce did come over to the table to see how everything was, and thanked us for coming. It was a nice touch.
The only negative I would even mention was our drinks took just a bit longer than what we were accustomed to when dining out, but again, that will improve over time.
Our meal, two Steakburger meals with fries, chicken drumstick appetizer, small Gradkowski salad, chocolate martini, glass of red wine, Diet Coke, Iced Tea and Cheesecake...$77.00.
We will definitely go back.
