RE: The Official Predict Next Football Season Thread - Not Too Early Edition
Moving forward, I believe regional and some national attention will be on ASU, ULM, ULL, WKU and Troy. The key will be what the heck each respective program does with such attention.

Just like this season, it is not a question of if that will happen just when, so I agree with what this writer at CFN wrote after the Kent game:
‘The ability of Arkansas State to not only win this game, but win it with flint and steel on defense, sends a loud message about the strength of the Sun Belt, with Bryan Harsin getting ready to lead the Red Wolves to a league championship three-peat in 2013. Forget Western Kentucky with Bobby Petrino; Arkansas State is the Sun Belt program that has built its brand the most over the past two years.’
They have built more than a 'brand'. Now you guys can spend the off season trying to convince yourselves otherwise, just like you did this year.
While I don't disagree with the assessment of stAte's program and future, back to back 9 win seasons, 2 NOLA Bowl wins and 42k and 48k have done more for the Sun Belts perception than the hiring of Patrino.
I would hate to rank things because so many things have happened that have created a positive 'buzz' about the SBC this year. Still winning is the bottom line and several SBC schools are poised to win going forward.
The best thing is that only one of the schools that contributed much to creating the buzz this year is leaving, and a school like Troy is not going to stay down for long, so SBC fans should get ready for some 'hype'.

The SBC will be really, really good next year. Really good coaches and really good players. I think ULM will have its best team EVER. Browning will be a senior and we only loses a couple starters and gain two 4 star receiver transfers. We have 9 defensive backs that redshirted this year and the key to our season will be how they perform. Otherwise, we won't reach our potential because we'll get torched every play. With that said, I think ULL, ASU, and WKU are going to have very good teams next year as well.

I think most of the SBC is up to par on the offensive side of the ball...The biggest quesions is defensive side of the ball..IMO, SBC teams still have problems on defense and this shows up especially when we play legitimate teams form the bigger conferences....

RE: The Official Predict Next Football Season Thread - Not Too Early Edition
With the FBS transfers that sat out and the JUCO talent coming in, along with the returning starters, I think our defense is going to be head and shoulders above what we had last year.
The offense is only questionable on who will be our new QB and, hopefully, the Oline will have gotten bigger, stronger and with a year together under their belts, better.
We have a few medical redshirts returning and will have 33 seniors (before atrition) back.
Some of our redshirts will contribute and our depth is getting better.
Looking forward to a surprising season (one can hope)

stAte just allowed one touchdown in its last 8 quarters. That included a bowl game vs. a top 25 team with a good offense. stAte also allowed the fewest points per game in the Sun Belt. And I think the defense is going to be better next year!

Don't sleep on the Bobcats. I expect us to have a solid recruiting class. Fran is recruiting several impact JUCO players that should play next season. There are several recruits that had to sit out this season that will be starting next. Our defense will be bigger and faster. Our OL will have more quality depth improving our run game.

There is a difference however between an average SBC defense, and an average defense in another league. At the top? No, but ASU fans saw first hand how good Kent States defense was, and they were average by most MAC standards.

I don't know what the hell you are talking about. What does it have to stAte's defense being better next year?
