UConn basketball would have many better options than the MAC, seriously. There are zero economic or competitive reasons for them to give the MAC more than 2 seconds thought. Football? The watered down Big East would do just as well and be geographically better.

Two points..

1) Nobody thinks UConn hoops to the MAC, everyone who has said it has said FBall only..
2) Geographically better? Are you on crack?

1. The poster right before me was talking about basketball.

2. My crack addiction has nothing to do with UConn flying mostly to schools where it wouldn't matter much except west once or twice a year.

MAC's does offer the flexibility that UMass, Temple and UConn need to place their hoops in stronger basketball leagues. If MAC could land all three, that would huge on the football side. That could let the MAC get better time slots with espn on Saturdays/Thursday nite games. With those three the MAC would have Boston, New York and Philadelphia markets. Something CUSA/MWC would not have. MAC could make a case they deserve what the MWC would get in a TV deal with those three. That moves the ball forward for the MAC significantly if they can pull this off. Football is driving everything. MAC just needs to be flexible with these three schools and allow them to select the MAC for football. MAC completely won out over CUSA and the football Big East in realignment. MAC going forward will be better than its ever been in football.

If those schools were interested in any Mac schools they would simply take the ones they wanted and add them to the NBE.

RE: Temple, Memphis, Cincinnati, and UConn
Here's the problem:
(a) MAC pays their coaches around-bottom compared to any other conferences
(b) MAC attendance is around-bottom compared to any other conferences -- THIS is so key
© Cinci & UConn fan attendance/statium size is much better than the MAC

I could see Temple & Memphis joining the MAC for football if they both defect the Big East & Conf-USA. Cinci & UConn? They would rather join CUSA. Much like Boise State wanting to go back to MWC.

I think the Big East may end up being the same as an ideal CUSA with their new imports... and the CUSA will drop like a rock where the MAC is better than they.

Thanks,
