To quote you:

Once again, that does not get them to $40M per year per school.

40 mil for the rose bowl, 30 mil for the orange bowl, around 80 mil for the TV money of the BCS then throw in the money if they make the playoff plus their TV money and the rest of the bowl money. In a single year just from the BCS they can make almost 200 mil.

No they aren't using state funds for their atheletic program, they can't by state law, it's the same everywhere. Public schools CAN NOT use tax payer money for atheletics.

Every state has their own rules/laws in regards to funding.

Most Athletic Programs can and DO use $$$$ from their own Univ "general" fund...with some of those $$$$ coming directly from the state.

Some states, like FLA, say you can't use state funds to build athletic facilities (most be funded elsewhere), but other $$$ can be used (tuition, general fund, activity fees, etc...).

In NJ in 2010, Rutgers used $26 Million in University and student funds to help balance their Athletic Dept Budget.

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/co...dies_n.htm

In regards to Maryland, in 2011, they announced they would have to cut 8 varsity programs since their Athletic Dept was bleeding (mostly do to loss of football revenue). That number was later adjusted to only 7 teams being cut because one was able to raise funds for 1 more year of play.

See article on Maryland's budget crunch in regards to athletics:

But, no where does it say tax payer money. Here is what your missing, those University funds they are talking about are from the endowment and student fees.

UCF does the same, over half your atheletic budget is from student fees. Where as RU is at 42% vs UCF at around 58%, USF is 33% and ECU is around 36% to other schools like UNC at 0%.

North Carolina it's state law that NO tax money can go to atheletics, ZERO. You can use gerenal funds (ie endowment) and/or student fee, but no tax money.

I'm more than willing to bet it's the same in Maryland and NJ.

Why bet?

Why not do your own research on all 50 states? (Since that was your claim in a previous post)

Pssst the money you are mentioning doesn't represent the winning share for the individual schools participating, but rather the money shared by the conferences participating.

Strangely enough... you can use taxpayers money for sports in CA. Actually, scratch that, Sacramento are a bunch of f***heads who love spending taxpayer money, so it isn't really that strange.

UNC leaving the ACC is laughable, they are the ACC. I know aren't the best team in the ACC in football, but the ACC comish is an UNC grad, the ACC offices are in Greensboro, just down the road from Chapel Hill. Chapel Hill hosts a lot of the ACC meetings. UNC will not break up the UNC/Duke rivalry.

UNC gets most anything they want in the ACC, they wouldn't be top dawg in the B1G, that would still be OSU and Big Blue.
