We had about as many MT fans there in BG a few years back.

Your fans sure did at the turnstiles. Many of your fans never wanted to go to 1-A in the first place.

So what makes you the expert on saying that MT "downplayed" the importance of men's hoops ?

Because we didn't fire Kermit ?

Our attendance figures were still one of the tops in the Belt-- even when we were struggling.

Last year, I imagine we had somewhere between 2000 and 2500 season tickets, so this year we be looking at 4000-5000 or more season tickets.

Murphy Center will continue to be a tough place to play. I'm very excited about MT basketball. This year, we'll be good, and the Raiders will have the Murph packed.

Of note: MT received 3 votes in the preseason Coaches' Top 25 poll. UNT received no votes.

I was a season tickets holder in Men's Basketball for 10 years, before I moved to Miami. I've always been vocally supportive of the men's team.

9 years of mediocrity under kermit and there's no other way to describe him pre-dendy pretty much screams 'downplayed' or something lukewarm amigo.

don't get me wrong. there's nothing keeping middle from becoming an every year power. biggest school in the volunteer state. committment to athletics. you should expect better than middle of the pack.

I think a lot of folks wanted him gone a couple of years ago, but it seems as if Massaro has made the right decision to keep him around.

He's got some big money men in his pocket (good thing and bad thing), and he's generally liked by the media. The cat is a hellagood public speaker (one of best around).

With football trying to get off the ground, we have been pumping most of our "extra" money into that sport. You know as well as I do that it drives the bus.

For some reason, MT cannot build anything until all of the money is raised (per TN Board of Regents rule). Hard for us to get bond issue here, but we are seeing small improvements in the Glass House every year with some bigger improvements to come.

I like the updated Diddle, but something about the old wooden bleachers going all the way to the top with 14k fans stomping-- hard to match that with jumbotrons, sky boxes, and the like.

We don't have WKU's attendance, but we have been among the tops in the SBC. I'm sure the Cajuns have large crowds when they are good.

Women's hoops crowd make up for the lack of ticket sales in the men's and probably put us on top in the SBC. But the men's team still draws more.

When I was in school, we were a hoops school, believe it or not. I think WKU and MT have the potential to be good in BOTH roundball and pigskin, which is hard to do-- look around the country and tell me how many U's can say that.
