RE: June Meetings
We have no idea whether or not Liberty has anyone present at the meeting. We are just speculating. But speculation is a favorite passtime for us FlameFans.

03-lmfao same here! Maybe later today?

Don't have a lot of faith in this meeting if Liberty rep is not there. Figured Liberty pushing it would be what would get them fired up to continue on.
Hate to say it, but this is Liberty's best shot right now. Maybe for all of us. Would have thought that Jerry Jr would have flown out a whole contingent on one of Liberty's airplanes.
Liberty is not restrained as much as the state schools are.

By the way "Knucklehead" - can't you change your picture to show all the letters. Very disappointed with the "I" and the "Y". Ha,ha.

HAHA, I'll work on it.

RE: June Meetings
Just curious... Why would any of the schools being mentioned attend the conference unless the WAC has already extended an invite? Why would they have a seat at the table? It's possible that they had been invited to attend a portion of the meeting to where they would be able to pitch the school's plan as an FBS institution, but they've already been talking for a few months now. The WAC would already know this info. I could be wrong, and probably am, but I just don't know why these AD's would be present for a conference meeting without an official invite.

Pretty valid point honestly.

Aren't Denver and Seattle still a part of the conference? Are there any other nonfootball schools still in the WAC? They'd all be a part of the meetings.

RE: June Meetings
OK here is something, not much. 2 quotes:
WAC MEETINGS - Hawaii

Quote:The Western Athletic Conference is scheduled to reveal its membership blueprint for 2012 at Tuesday's annual board of directors meeting and, for the moment, the band and balloons are on hold as the WAC scours the landscape for another football-playing member to fill the considerable puka left by UH.

And What on earth does this mean?

Quote:Moreover, the WAC needs enough existing FBS schools for its Football Championship Subdivision teams to raise their status. And, so far, that search has apparently deadended.

RE: June Meetings
Question for fellow Big South member Liberty: what are Stony Brook's short/long term plans? I heard an interview on the Tim Brando Show last Friday with their baseball coach and he said they intend to be the "next UConn." They have good football, basketball, and baseball teams. They are also located on Long Island near the largest media market on the planet. It seems like they have everything a program could need in order to make the jump to FBS. Does anyone know their intentions?

I had heard they were going to CAA, but that was before all the CAA defections.

RE: June Meetings
I would expect Stony Brook to be in the CAA in the near future. They are an AAU school so that helps tremendously with realignment, I would argue it helps almost as much as their location. In time, Stony Brook could be a Big East member but I would say that would be far down the road.
