It doesn't matter what we think, or what the slackjaws calling into the monster think, it matters what the parents of those student athletes think, what their attorney(s) can stir up and just exactly how much more is out there concerning this.

I'm not a fan of hardcore physical punishment in athletics. I have a problem with a culture that tolerates and promotes this type of behavior. It's bullying.

However, to say that a player in the video's life was endangered is a little extreme.

Skole probably won't get fired for this... he'll get fired for his .397 winning percentage in A-Sun play and making the conference tournament just three times in seven tries. If they miss the tournament next year, with their big new stadium that the administration has big plans for, I have to think he's getting the axe, if he isn't getting it at the end of the month.

They don't have a big new stadium. That's the thing.

I agree 100 percent with you. It IS BULLYING. Tennessee has a statute against bullying and public schools requires every school to have an anti-bullying policy.

I do disagree with you that when a person can't physically move other than to vomit and is not being attended to immediately by the trainer and given medical attention, that my friend is a criminal act.
I really hope for Brian's sake he did try to intervene in that situation and not just stand by and watch an athlete blow chunks and physically not be able to move.

I went over to my parents and got yesterday's sports section. Anybody else notice how Trey wrote up Mullins statement and answers verbatim, with every stutter,, the 30 or so "you knows" the ums.. the ahs. Hopefully Noland reads that and realizes how big a boob he has
representing his school. This the guy you want to be the voice of your athletics?

Yeah it's an obvious attempt to try to slam Mullins, which I normally don't have a problem with, but THIS is what Trey latches on to? Trey is trying to be Brian T Smith, but picking the wrong issue.

I just tried to watch the video again. Its now private on youtube. Is there any other way to watch this?

I just noticed something,, Skole taking jabs at Bartow?
I didn't think kicking them out thier locker room or doing something in that fashion was what was needed.

Later he mentioned the recent problems on campus the shooting and the robbery and he didn't want he players
in the wrong place at wrong time in season.

Why would he make it private unless the school asked him to take it down?

I also noted the slamming of Mullins in the article. I'm pretty surprised that Williams is locking onto this video and the expose, which isn't really an expose. Really? This is how you think you will bring down Skole, followed by Mullins? I don't think so. Skole should go based on the record, but I'm being redundant.

I didn't believe any of you when you said the videos were privatized, so I searched them on YouTube. They aren't private as of about five minutes ago.

I agree the video was not very good and the commentary was certainly crude. The good thing about this video is that it has brought about discussion both good and bad concerning the baseball program and the AD. There is a great deal of emotion on all sides but I think the stats speak for themselves as they have been mentioned throughout this blog. Perhaps Skole's style of coaching - intimidation, beat down, negative air, and his arrogance has contributed to a less than successful 13 year reign. There is much to be excited about on the horizon with a new stadium (hopefully by next season) and a new president who believes in the value of athletics for the university and it's students. I think it's time to move on WITHOUT Tony Skole and Dave Mullins.

For what its worth, this was brought up on the Morning Monster this morning. I didnt catch all of it but it was at least discussed a bit. I dont put alot into what the hosts or callers say- but from what I heard from the hosts at least it was mostly that the parents need to "cut the cord".

I really think this thing has taken a life of its own here. The one thing that I do agree with is that it does not matter what any of us (or the parents) think about it. None of us play or coach on the team, and none of us are the AD. Really those are the only people that should have a say in this. This might hurt recruiting which is the only reason that a fanbase should care. Its not going to be a PR disaster past maybe the local media, its not going to win in any civil or criminal court, etc.

MAYBE this does cost Skole his job though. If they were wanting to fire him anyway and he would otherwise have a buyout clause, this would give them an excuse to fire him with cause and not pay him anything.

Mullins has a history of working to keep things quiet when it deals with anything unpleasant in athletics. I guarantee you he doesn't want the attention from this, whether or not anything wrong actually happened.
