Figured CUSA would be going after the University of China in Beijing. What a market!

You could always add Stony Brook and Fordham to dominate the NYC market...lol.

Obviously. No, I mean are they the only school we're looking at to fill the final spot?

I'm guessing the answer is yes, since UTA is the only Division 1 non-football school in the Sun Belt footprint that:

- is actively seeking a new home;
- keeps the conference in the DFW market;
- gives Texas State a travel partner;
- just opened a state-of-the-art $78 million arena; and
- just completed a twenty-plus win basketball season (24-9).

I think it just means you aren't getting App or Georgia Southern for 2013. I want to get ink on paper as much as anyone but this is a fluid process and I believe both are certainly still in play.

According to one source, FSU to the Big 12 is "inevitable":
http://dev.chuckoliver.net/2012/05/fsu-t...nevitable/

There are still plenty of dominoes set to fall.

May be but there is a good chance we will do something else by the time that Mr. Benson gets out of office.
The MAC commissioner grew up in Boone and his dad taught and coached at Appalachian. Never heard that we have talked with them, but there were MAC message board rumors about us having an in vite from them a couple of months ago. Not an ideal situation but they do have at least one opening with Temple gone. Just tired of waiting, and truthfully not sure that the Sun Belt will ever invite us if they haven't already.

It is only a hunch and maybe I'm hopelessly optimistic, but I believe there are things going on behind closed doors. My opinion is obviously biased but I think we offer too much to be overlooked.

Face it, App will be playing Samford and Wofford forever. The FBS conferences would rather have a dozens UABs than a proven winner with actual fans.

Let's not knock other teams. UAB has never done anything to us. Am sure they are a fine school. Besides, I believe if, which seems likely, something doesn't happen with the SB, we will still be FBS within the next few months. Too many people at Appalachian too tired of waiting around to not try some other things. Feel like we are wasting time.

There are absolutely things going on behind closed doors. The only remaining questions:
1) What conference will it be? (SBC, CUSA or MAC)
2) Will it be announced before or after June 1?

Act now. Waiting isn't the best option. There's always the chance that CUSA could lose ECU and then try look at App St to replace them. Then the Sun belt will be wishing they had offered sooner.

RE: SBC Spring Meeting 2012, Destin FL
My guess is we won't announce anything before June 1. I'm not sure an invite is coming in this round of realignment. I do believe this time next year we will have received an invite. I believe the admin is still favoring a CUSA invite because of how that conference is now configured regionally. I believe the CUSA leaders meet in June sometime. We may have a better feel as to what prospects lie there. Interest in the SBC, if it isn't already getting the admins attention, may heighten at that point if CUSA looks doubtful. Regardless, I don't see us announcing any move any time real soon.

A. Replacing ECU with ApSt - you funny.

B. As if a prior Sun Belt invite would stop ApSt from accepting a CUSA invite? ApSt has made one thing perfectly clear in all of this: CUSA is their first choice and they will go there at the first opportunity.

CUSA with ECU was our first choice.

Understandable with the proximity of Charlotte and Marshall

CUSA with ECU=first choice
CUSA without ECU=rather play in SBC, MAC, or WAC.

Sorry, but that is just stupid. Marshall, ODU, and probably MTSU would be in CUSA at that point, which would be far better for you than the MAC or W(E)AC.
