They wait 15 years till the grant of rights is over and take Tex, TT, Okl, and Okie state.

Your suggeston is a distinct possibility, but if the Big 12 dissolves (a.k.a. Texas leaves) the rights revert back to the separate schools. Also, the term is negotiable even if the remaining schools stay together. If Texas, OU, TEch and OSU leave, that should be sufficient to dissolve the conference (based on the present 10 teams), ESPN and Fox would renegotiate/cancel the contracts. No way would the remaining 6 teams command such a high value TV deal.
In short, Texas knows that even it they alone leave, the Big 12 loses their present deal and the rights revert back to them. The deal means no more than Texas wants it to mean. Besides, UT will take OU and two others anyway, if tehy go to the Pac 12.
This is one of the things FSU's president knows very well. He was a dean at UT, he understands how Texas works.

Perhaps the Pac-?? wishes to lock up NYC with Pitt, Syracuse, Notre Dame and a player to be named later. Not sure if they can handle having USC West and East in the same confernce, though...
Quick analysis, the four superconferences idea only works if all four have 16 teams, otherwise they lack the votes to overrule the remianing teams. Even then, this is a slim majority, with several teams planning/consider making the jump to FBS.
While ridiculous sounding, I wouldn't discount anything. Might be a nice pod for the PAC and they could broadcast 4 games a day.

Back in the 50' (I think) someone suggested the then powers for a 16 team conference. It stretched from coast to coast, north to south and had most of the top 20 winingest programs. I wish I had kept that reference.
