is that the SBC is only a confrence for FCS programs to move into FBS.

CUSA you just stepped into that role as well with UNCC and ODU.

They're basketball schools. However, just as with the Sun Belt, they will have an open invitation to move to FBS when they feel they are ready.

CUSA is welcome to make all the foolish adds they want. As long as they stay away from App and Georgia Southern.

CUSA is actually attempting to lock the SBC out of markets...cute. Its like they are trying to do what the WAC failed to do years ago and get rid of our league.

Really? Those are the jewels in all of this? I hope to God there are some businessmen in charge of this and we stay at 10/12.

We need to add those two. Protects against future raids and the viability of the conference, while adding solid football programs.

Yes. App St averages close to 28k. GSU beings tons of tradition and support. No offense but that's more than GaSt or Texas St for that matter can boast. Those would great gets for the conference aside from not being close to major cities.

Im not a fan of adding markets but taking App State and watching them generate excitement in Charlotte while Charlotte is taking its FBS lumps would be funny.

This has got to be a kick in the groin to those App fans who thought they were getting in CUSA. Not gloating but this must sting.

C-USA long ago proved we have no problems calling up FCS schools. Did it with UAB and USF, and the only reason we didn't do it with Charlotte back in the day is their program hadn't been started yet. It was obvious all 3 were eventually going to be in C-USA, I just wasn't sure it would be immediately.

Poor CUSA, I'd hate to be in their position - you're bringing in UTSA, ODU, and UNCC to go along with Tulane, Rice, and UAB? Yikes. Sure we've got ULM, but geez that's not a lineup I'd want to be stuck with.

App will rail charlotte if they will agree to a matchup!

The addition of Old Dominion is not as desperate as it looks. They built the program wisely. They've sell out every game in their new 20,000 seat stadium (which will be surely added to.) They have been quickly competitive (went to second round of FCS playoffs). They sit in and near large population centers and media markets.

When it comes to fan support and competitiveness they are way, way ahead of Georgia State.

I understand that and for what its worth I think that UTSA/ODU/UNCC are sensible good adds for CUSA.

However for YEARS all I have heard is "The SBC will always stink because they take in all the FCS to FBS wannabes"

Now CUSA is doing that just as much as the SBC is so that line of thinking is VERY much a pot/kettle situation.

Yes, they played Georgia State and Georgia Southern in the same season.

They killed Georgia State and lost a good one to Georgia Southern. ODU is a good team.

Obviously new to this board, but was wondering..

Is there any talk of Liberty Univ to the Sun Belt? I have no dog in the hunt on this. I have no connection to Liberty, but a friend of my daughter's went there to play football and they seem to have a good fan base, are fairly competitive on the FCS level and I'm given to understand they want to move up to FBS. I realize the Falwell association may make them a little too toxic. Just wondering.
