RE: Would you want Lamar?
Kennesaw has yet to hire a coach, which presumably they would have to do by May or June this year in order to make a 2014 kickoff. They are a long, long way off.

Valdosta State is Div II amd shares a stadium with Valdosta High School. I cannot imagine them moving even to FCS. They have played for 3 and won 2 National Titles in the last 10 years. Why move even to FCS?

There's a reason people will make fun of it Jag and I mean no disrespect to you, but it's a ridiculous notion. Ten schools? Ten? Why would we possibly need to think about ten schools? If we have to go beyond our top five choices we are in big trouble. Furthermore, I guarantee you neither one of Kennesaw State or Valdosta will be FBS in the next 25 years.

And yes, this thread was begun about Lamar in the SBC, it was also started by a non-Sun Belt member and the results of this poll are indicative of how we feel about programs like Lamar and Jax State would probably result in similar numbers, Valdosta and Kennesaw don't even deserve a poll, I'd be willing to bet that you are literally the only SBC fan that has either one of them even remotely on your radar for expansion.

They would end up being no votes. I was just suggesting a top ten to avoid the argument to who the top five of six would be in the poll.

My top five at the moment would be

Ga State
App State
Texas San Antonio
UNC Charlotte
Ga Southern

How do you petition to the add that type of poll?

You'd have to talk to an admin. Having said that, while I know literally nothing about computer programming and what it would take to actually add that function, I don't suspect it's especially easy and I honestly don't see a great need for it, but feel free to message an admin if you're serious about it.

Best you can do currently is start a poll that allows voters to select multiple choices, but all votes will be counted equally in that case.

When are you people going to realize that Georgia State wants no part of the Sun Belt Conference? Let it go, please. Forget them because they're entertaining the thought of being invited to the "Big Alliance".

Being drinking a lot this weekend? Sun Belt has been all anyone on Panther Talk has been talking about for last 3 to 4 months. When the AJC reported that the feasibility study had been commissioned and completed and recommended the SBC, fans blew up the AJC blog comments, Barnhart & Durham's radio show and Twitter. The response was overwhelmingly positive with dozens of people saying that NOW they would open their wallets. The people who are opposed we're negligible to non-existent.

In terms of willingness to go to the SBC, App State and Georgia State are the top two. Texas State is a distant 3rd. Texas-San Antoino 4th, and Louisiana Tech will come kicking and screaming after Texas State ties them to the back of their bus.

Have you read their boards lately? Sure, your cohort, Panama says they are interested, but are they? I really hope they are for all the right reasons. IMO, I think they'd be fools not to. Don't hold your breath, though.

I really think some of these folks that want be known as "insiders" do not know jack****. An awful lot of changes would have to occur for South Alabama move to the West. I think the admin at USA would balk if they tried such crapola. Some posters do not want their li'l rivalries disturbed. USA vs. Troy would eventually become the top rivalry in the SBC.

RE: Would you want Lamar?
Let me pose a scenerio for you JoeJag, completely serious. If both C-USA and the Big East came to Mobile and said, "we are interested in USA and what you have done with your athletics. We should talk, there may be a future with you in our conference."
Now you know C-USA is a step up from the Sun Belt in money, prestige, and bowls. Not a slam, just the truth. And the Big East trumps C-USA under the same criteria. EVERYONE knows that not a single Belt member would accept an invite for C-USA over the Big East. The perks are much, much better. Here's the kicker, the Big East is still playing chess with schools and crunching theirs numbers while C-USA wants an answer yesterday.
Do you:
A. Commit early to C-USA and be greatful
B. Commit early to C-USA. If the BE invite comes you need to prepare for a pricey buyout for decommitting
C. Bide your time hoping the BE invite works out, and if not THEN commit to C-USA. HOWEVA, your spot isn't guaranteed.
D. Tell them all to screw off, we are happy in the Belt

What do you do?

Joe, what are you TALKING about? I know you dont want us in the SBC but stop talking craziness. Anyone who lives in Atlanta knows whats up. If you listen to Barnhart and Durham over the last 2 months GSU and SBC get mentioned in the same sentence once a week. So what GSU fans are against being in the SBC?

To paraphrase Fermi: If GSU is agaisnt SBC , where are the posts? 03-wink

I saw lots of anti-SBC posts last time I visited panthertalk but granted it was awhile ago. You, too, panama were calling us the Sun Belch in various posts. Not going to go dig up garbage in some kind of vain effort to participate in this electronic version of "no u" but I know JoeJag isn't just making this up. Things might have changed now, though, and it is just an internet message board, so I think its fair to give GSU fans the benefit of the doubt.

I see Lamar like this, you invite UTSA, Texas St., La Tech, and they all say no. You invite Lamar, WAC has no one to add and would have 7 at most. Then call back the 3 that said no ask them if they're interested now.

Half of the WAC board actually believes that they'll get Lamar all will be okay and that they are better than you. Ask Mazanowolf and MG61. They always tell me I'm wrong and that once the Alliance gets FIU and UNT they'll have the upper hand. I can't wait for the SBC to snag some WAC schools so I can hear their next line of logic how all will be okay.

I have never used the term Sun Belch

Most references to Sun Belch are by CAA fans or FCS fans trying to tell us why we shouldn't move up.

I think ChooChoos's post explains it best.

Ultimately Presidents make these decisions and our President has decided

The problem with your plan is it still involves us taking Lamar... no thanks.

I don't think UTSA or Texas State would decline an invite to the Sun Belt, so the point is moot.

RE: Would you want Lamar?
How can you say the point "is moot" when UTSA nor Texas State have been issued invitations to join the Belt. How do you know these two institutions would not want Lamar in their league (SBC or WAC) to be in their footprint? I wouldn't neccessarily be in favor of Lamar at the present time, but say by 2014-2016 they just may be ready for the move up with the finances being in place and an increase in attendance. That is presumptous on your part to rule that "the point is moot".
