Right now the closest to grood barbecue that I can think of would be going down to the Iron Bound and getting rodizio at one of the Portuguese or Brazilian places. There used to be a great place on South Orange Av called Brothers. They did an East Carolina style that was soaked in a vinegar and mustard base. That was Good Stuff and worth the trouble of bringing two friends and a gun to get n an out of that hood.

Please, im a white dude who went to Portuguesefest every year. Its not THAT bad. I go out there for food and have no issues. Quit being a scared white boy.

Yeah except in NYC after I eat my amazing BBQ at Fette Sau I can go and actually do things, like have fun and hangout with beautiful women.04-cheers
Agree, but you don't think we have beautiful women in Memphis, or have things to do to have fun? Maybe you need to take a trip down south sometime. 04-cheers

I didn't say there were none in Memphis but way more of both in NYC.

Southern women are the hottest in the nation. I've been to NYC many times. Don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite cities.

People talk about georgia peaches and the belles out of mississippi but no one talks about the girls of Tennessee. haha

Oh and where do you think all the hottest girls move to? Not memphis thats for sure.

Yes I know I am not a BE fan, but you can't keep me away from a good BBQ thread. Of course I am biased toward eastern NC BBQ. My 2 all time favorite places are B's in Greenville, and the Skylight Inn Cafe (Pete Jones') in Ayden. I do really enjoy Memphis style BBQ, and am alright with every other style except for that abomination those idiots in SC do with the mustard. Makes me gag just thinking about it.

Come to Knoxville and wander around the UT campus. You won't have to look around for long...

I'll have to head that way someday. Also, there's a place along the Gulf of Mexico (I think it's in either Mississippi or Alabama) called The Shed. It's supposed to serve pretty decent barbecue. (I do remember it being a wet 'Que joint.)

They're from all over, dude. I used to work on campus, and they come from all over the south, with a few from outlying regions (foreign and domestic) sprinkled in here and there...

Note the upside down Trent Lott Middle School sign (the one that says "Welcome Open 7 Days a Wk").

There are way more women in NYC. Beautiful ones and ugly ones too.

The University of Memphis has had two different Miss Americas. Barbara Walker Hummel and Kellye Cash Sheppard. The only two winners from Tennessee.

Crap, man. That really sucks. I hope they're able to rebuild.

Gemini, I don't know if you had ever had Joe Cotten's BBQ outside of Corpus Christi, but it also burned down about a year ago now. That was the BBQ I grew up with so that was a sad day. They say they are going to rebuild but are still waiting on insurance money to come through.

No, I haven't. And that's a shame, too. (Frankly, I don't think I've ever been to Corpus, and if I have, it was probably when I was just barely out of diapers.) Anyway, I hope they do in fact rebuild because losing something you grew up with sucks. (A restaurant here in Dayton named Frank's burned down several years ago, and it was never rebuilt. It really, really bites because that place had the best chicken fried steak I had ever eaten.)
