I have to admit i admire your administration. In this Big East exit scenario, they did what they were paid to do: Pursue the best interests of WVU even if that meant shamelessly trashing agreements you had solemnly made with current conference partners, etc.

I can only hope USF's admins will have the balls to do that if we're ever in the same situation. 04-cheers

Steve, since The BEast trashed every rivalry WVU valued, burning the bridges was no problem for WVU's administration...

It sure wasn't. As i said, it was a gutsy move. And if i were a WVU fan, i'm not sure i would agree with it. Yes, the Big 12 offers a lot more money. But, the Big 12 has teetered on the brink of dissolution the last couple of years, and there's little reason to think that threat is now gone. And losing the Brawl has to be a HUGE blow. Not sure i could stomach that, and then all those games against alien programs from out west, where few WVU fans will be able to travel? This move is by no means a no-brainer slam-dunk, you may very well end up regretting it.

But don't be disingenuous: You "value" the Maryland and yes, Marshall rivalries, and nice job keeping them on the schedule.

Chicken or egg - ACC or BE? But you are right, not hard to walk away from an extremely voided past.

I have no hard feelings. I'd trade the current crop of misfits for the old new big east in a second. If USF were offered a spot in the ACC or B12 we'd be gone as fast as WVU was, so I cant hold it against you. Enjoy the new rivalries, hope we get to play again sometime, i always enjoyed the WVU/USF football games.

Good luck with SMU, UCF, SDSU, Boise, et al. 04-cheers

you guys will never schedule boise cause your afraid you'll loose, good luck playin oaky, oaky state, texas, tcu one tough league 03-lmfao03-lmfao

No offense, but this is a stupid statement. I have no love for WVU, but if the school was truly afraid of competing against good FB schools, then they would have stayed behind in the BE and blocked Boise from joining the conference. Call me crazy, but going to the Big12 in order to play those schools is more of a vote of "No Confidence" in the Big East than it is a desire to avoid Boise at all costs. I think Texas, Oklahoma, Okie St, TCU and Texas Tech are better programs than Boise.

WVU will play 5 teams in 2012 that finished 2011 ranked #16 or better...

When has Boise EVER done something similar, Stookey? 07-coffee3

West Virginia burned bridges, that's their right. But don't believe a word they say going forward.

crazed, I'm with you. I feel very confident towards WVU's leadership, more so than at any other time in our history...

Bit:

2006: USF beat #7 ranked WV 24-19.
2007: USF beat #5 ranked WV 21-13.

I'd say being top 10 you were in the NC hunt both times... so pretty sure we had a little something to do with it. Good times, my friend. 02-13-banana

RE: Good-bye, Mountaineers
Pitt beat WVU when the Mountaineers were a 28 point favorite, and ranked #1 (AP)/#2 (Coaches/BCS). That was definitely spoiling WVU's chances...

WVU didn't stand a chance at going to the BCSCG when USF won. ESPiN was downplaying The BEast. Remember?

RE: Good-bye, Mountaineers
Sounds like we all spoiled it for you from time to time. From a quick peek, you had the 2006 game late, had already lost 1. Were still ranked 7 though, finished up with 2 losses. Kept you out of a BCS bowl. The 2007 game was early, your first loss, and you went on to lose one more. You are correct though, you crawled back to #1 in spite of the USF loss. Either way, glad we played a part. Especially in 2006. It will be very interesting to see how you all perform in the B12. Buena suerte.

Now if only the Bulls can quit falling on their face when conference play begins. They never seem to finish the way their OOC schedule leads one to believe...

Yep, we've definitely struggled in Big East play. I'd like to say it's because traveling a thousand miles up north to play in the cold makes us a fish out of water, but we seem to struggle when conference foes come down to Tampa as well.

It's a big problem, and so far we haven't found a solution.

If there was an easy solution, you could buy it off the shelf...
