I wish the mods could just banish him there lol.

I'm still trying to understand what waffle house has to do with Troy considering I've yet to see a city without since it's really one of the only chains that stays open all night.

But I find it ironic that anyone in the south is trying to joke about diets, especially someone from Louisiana. If he goes to Colorado and looks at the people and comes back to LAFAYETTE and looks around he probably won't be saying waffle house to much more. I don't need to say anything else besides fried trout head a meal I had and laughed about while I was there.

I think he's making fun of the lack of a cultural identity in Troy, not necessarily the diet of its inhabitants.

To be honest, little arguments and good ole fashioned ribbin' (01-rivals talking) is the only thing that keeps me coming back and visiting the boards during the off-season since we're (Cajuns) kind of lacking in the Insider department now-a-days.

Reason for edit: I accidentally a word.

See now I also enjoy a little smack talk but I know when to stop he doesn't. And I can tell you have a good head on your shoulders so I'm going to discuss lack of cultural identity.

I'm not a Troy native I live in Birmingham and I'm not a Alabama native I was born in California. Saying any city has a lack of cultural identity is borderline ignorant unless you have lived or explored it. Most people who come to Troy only go to the main highway and university avenue especially visiting sports teams.

Before you made that statement did you actually do any research on the city besides visiting the Wikipedia page? Because a city is small does not mean it has a lack of cultural identity heck answer this. If you were Asian if someone asked you what is the cultural identity of the United States as big as it is how would you respond?

Why don't you attend Troy Fest, read a history book on the civil war, eat at the local restaurants, or have a conversation with some of the locals before making such a statement. Heck I lived in Birmingham eight years and I have had an actual conversation with someone from another country (not counting Mexico and ordering Chinese food). My first semester in Troy involved me meeting and making friends with people from 17 differen't countries.

Thanks for the insight. I'm all for soaking up different cultures; I'm just pushing out my own analysis on what Hawk meant.

I'm know every city has its own interesting history and worth (except for Baton Rouge). Now would you recommend me taking my one football in-conference road trip to Troy or Denton? Cause I'm going to either.

RE: PreSnap Read-Top 10 non-BSC QB's...
Actually, according to my relatives who lived in Montgomery, Alabama, Waffle House is the state restaurant of Alabama. I know it's not true, but also that people from Alabama take it way too seriously when someone says that...we can cross that one off as highly effective according to the reaction on this board.

As far as culture...what sets apart a person from Troy, Alabama from say a person from Gadsden, Alabama or Foley, Alabama or Montgomery, Alabama? Is there a major cultural difference? Or are they pretty much the same. Take someone from Shreveport, Louisiana and then take a person from Lafayette, Louisiana. Talking to them for five minutes you will understand the cultural differences.

Being of Acadian decent on both sides of my family, our culture and heritage is unmistakable. It's copied and pasted all over the world (you can get Cajun Chicken Pasta at restaurants in St Petersburg, Russia), but it's only authentic in one place. Acadiana. Our home. Look up "Le Grand Derangement" when you get a chance. Cajuns are one of the more unique and interesting cultures in all of the United States. Many people who come, stay. Many people who visit, come back to visit year after year. People don't say that about Troy, Alabama.

Your move mister Troy.

This appears to be a typical thread here.
Someone posts something both interesting and positive about a couple of our schools.
this one happens to include a positive sbout the Cajuns.
A cajun fan engages in banter with a fan of the other school about whom good news has been reported.
True to form, ulm fan cannot abide good things being spoken about the Cajuns (or la tech for that matter) and deems it necessary to chime in.
i just wish my fellow Cajun fans would learn not to swallow the bait.

Results speak for themselves.

:iagree:

Im getting really tired of moving threads that started out as informational/interesting about SBC schools to smack because people cant resist pissing in each other cherios.

By no means do I want this board to be happy go lucky, lets all blow sunshine up each others dairy aire, but I dearly wish people would stop baiting and taking said bait in these threads.

There is a reason flame baiting is a bannable offense on a lot of boards. A good number of posters here also flame way too much and with borderline personal material. Arguing over cultural diversity on a football forum? Heh.
