Just because Texas said something doesn't mean they will follow through. You should know that by now. They have said a lot in the past and did just the opposite.
Texas has a BoR meeting on Monday too, just saying.

I saw that. They may have to feel important too! 04-cheers

I hear ya, what OU is having a meeting on Mon? Oh yeah, so are we! Maybe we'll leave you, before you leave us.05-stirthepot

I know you're being funny, but the Texas meeting is 2 hours later.

If Oklahoma emerges from their meeting and reaffirms their commitment to the Big IIX,* I expect that Texas will do the same in their meeting.

If Oklahoma emerges from their meeting and announces that they've authorized President Boren to explore all conference options, then I expect Texas' meeting to take a similar act. Just because Texas authorizes their president to explore other options doesn't preclude them from determining that their best option is a Big VI with appropriate expansion. And I would have to think Texas wouldn't HAVE to make that decision immediately.

What gets VERY interesting then is what happens with respect to the SEC. If the SEC offers Missouri the chance to become team #14, then it becomes the Big V and, in my opinion, likely becomes the fatal blow to that conference staying together. If the SEC offers WVU the chance to become team #14, then I suspect the remaining Big East football schools will immediately be calling Beebe to see what can be done.

If Beebe and Marinatto were both smart, they would be working together to find some amicable solution that provides a soft landing for all of their teams. Given Marinatto's Providence ties, I would NOT be shocked to see him brokering a deal that somehow allows the Big East's basketball schools to retain their name and return to their basketball roots (with Marinatto as the commissioner) and the Big XIV formed with Beebe as commissioner constituted as:

East

Cincinnati
UConn
Pitt
Rutgers
Syracuse
USF
Louisville (if WVU goes SEC)/WVU (if Mizzou goes SEC)

West

Baylor
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Texas
TCU
Missouri (if WVU goes SEC)/Louisville (if Mizzou goes SEC)

And before I get crucified for suggesting this (which is similar to what others have proposed), remember that Marinatto called Beebe as this was starting to discuss amicable solutions.

So UT isn't going to the Pac? If they were there'd be a RRR conf. game.

Could happen but you left out Texas Tech. Where do they fit. We'd have 15 schools between us at that point. And I don't see anyway where the 9 BE FB schools that come in would stand for anything less than equal revenue sharing. They probably would allow Bevo to keep the LHN with one or two non-conference games a year going on it. But conference revenue would get split evenly. In all honesty, this conference setup if the revenue is distributed evenly could be relatively stable and rather attractive to media partners. Since Texas Tech was forgotten I say bring in ECU as #16. Imagine being able to say you're in (and in many cases control) CT, NY, NJ, PA, WV, OH, KY, FL, TX, KS, NC and IA. That being said I want no part of Bevo.

I'm pretty sure that was a shot across the UT bow. "Join us in the Pac-12 and the RRS continues. Don't join us in the Pac-12 and we'll start playing Texas A&M in Dallas every year."

Kind of one more piece of evidence to suggest that Texas has SEVERELY overplayed their hand.

Crud. Thought I had it nailed. If they have to add a 16th school to make that fit, it gets tricky. BYU? Regardless, I have a very bad feeling that Marinatto is doing his best to get the Big East's basketball schools back to their "roots."

Or its one final push to convince UT to go? Or its just smoke to deflect UT/OU both going pac.

Lots of good stuff lol

Remove Texas and sub in Texas Tech then we don't have to take ECU. If we add ECU, I like to add either Houston or UCF to balance it out.

That being said, I don't want my school get into any conference where Texas is a full member.

It's interesting to watch the anti-UT consensus become so explicitly clear and "open." Bevo's insatiable greed may be objectively understandable, but it has thoroughly poisoned the Big 12 waters, and I don't think anything can be done now to "cure" them. I think -- if the P12 will have them -- OU and OSU are "as gone as a wild goose in winter" (J. Cash).
