RE: Parking Prices
I parked in the Waldron Deck for the last tailgate and it pretty much sucked. Mainly because of the lack of porta pissers. I have parked in the 31st st lot for Bears games and had a much better experience.

Also, I would much rather park on the East side of Huskie Stadium than the West side, no matter the price. East just happens to be cheaper, so that is an added bonus.

If you don't want to go to the game, stay home like the rest of dekalb and don't complain about the prices.

If you do want to go to the game, then pay the price, and remember that NIU athletes and NIU get to be displayed at Soldier Field.

No kidding! If they don't like spending a little money partying in a real tailgate lot doing the Soldier Field thing then maybe just eagerly wait for another thrilling game against Eastern Michigan or Ball State at Huskie Stadium... 03-lmfao

Or Boise State.

The Boise ST ticket at Toledo this year is $49.00... Huskie stadium would be empty with $49 tickets..

It would not be empty if we were playing Boise St. Maybe not a 28k crowd but definitely 24k.

You wouldn't pay $25 more per ticket to see us play Boise St instead of an FCS team at HS?

31st is a good lot for Bear's game...just don't know how many will park there for the NIU game...

I would pay up to what they are charging for the Wisconsin tickets to see a quality BCS or top mid-major at Huskie Stadium. Having said that, I do not think it will happen. It seems like Toledo is one of the few in the MAC that knows how to do it.

It is a bit of a walk, but is alot better tailgate lot than most.

Hey hey! Can't wait to see you this seaskn, Bill! Which Bears games you tailgating at?

Anyways, the 31st Street lot allows for full tailgating: gas and charcoal grills, canopies, bonfires/firepits, etc. The South Lot/Waldron Deck doesn't allow canopies or firepits.

I guess it is to each his own. I would never ever even think about bringing a UPS flag, canopy, firepit, or toss game to a tailgate party. I basically tailgate to eat some good food from a gas grill and get really drunk with others that are looking to do the same somewhere close to the stadium. South Lot and 31st St are very different for a Bears game. Like others have said, there probably won't be many in the 31st St lot for NIU/Wisconsin. At least that is my guess.

If NIU was in a BCS conference then $50-60+ would be more than fair for tickets. On the other hand, I think to most people MAC opponents are probably worth quite a bit less than what they are charging right now.

It is supposed to open four hours before the game, but my understanding is that it usually opens a bit earlier. Never been there more than four hours before the game before, but I am gonna try to get in for this game around 10 am.

How many tickets did we sell to Soldier Field at double that amount, with much more expensive parking and outrageous concession prices?

And how do you assume Huskie stadium would be empty at $49 to play Boise State? When was the last time we had a big-name school play at Huskie stadium? Maryland was the closest I can think of, and they were never as good as Boise is now. That was a sellout. There are no other examples I can even think of in the past 2+ decades.

Iowa State played at Huskie Stadium in 2003 about two weeks after Maryland. Wake Forest played at Huskie Stadium in 2002. There were very big crowds for all three games, but I think the 2003 games were easy sellouts.

Yes, people would pay a premium for a good opponent. If a top ten opponent was visiting Huskie Stadium I would pretty much pay whatever they were asking within reason. I would not consider $49 much for an opponent ranked in the top ten or even any BCS team. However, Eastern Michigan isn't worth the price of a movie to somebody like me. I like big events and the chance to beat the big boys. NIU should really think about selling beer at the MAC games because there is no MAC opponent that is as interesting as beer.

Isn't there an NCAA rule that prohibits the sale of alcohol at college events played on college campuses?

No, but it is discouraged.

Subject covered in other threads, but in a nutshell insurance is very high for it and the bigger issue is that the NCAA will not allow advertisement of alcohol of any kind on campus. That is where the big bucks come in, when the stadium receives 6,(7 maybe in pro) figures for a few billboards @ the stadium/arena. Schools that do primarily provide it in controled areas, like club boxes, to make the big wigs happy.
