I thought this was pretty funny:
It looks like ASU is literally the missing piece of the CUSA puzzle.

Wow, I'm really surprised that the Belt isn't leading in that poll. I'm glad that our non-AQ brethren think higher of us than past years.

Muh...I really don't care what Conf USA fans think. Most of them have been complete a holes that I have interacted with on here. They've been around longer and are more established as a conference but outside of b ball I think our sports programs are generally on par. They do have better attendance and are a bit better in football overall but I think we've proven that we can beat them on the field in the last 5 years. If things keep on current pace we will catch up with them in attendance within 10 years in terms of attendance and I doubt they improve in that area much over that length of time.

I, along with many of other USM & C-USA fans respect the Sun Belt. I can tell y'all that you are 1,000,000,000,000 times better than the WAC, and a little better than the MAC.

The statistics don't bare out the idea that the SBC is better than the MAC. The MAC has regularly finished higher in the Sagarin ratings. Its a bigger, deeper football conference than the SBC.

What I like the most about the picture is how he has SMU covering the West Texas towns of Lubbock and El Paso while the Cougars take the metroplex.

I haven't checked---but I doubt that the statistics have the
WAC below the MAC or Sunbelt. And with Hawaii, CSU Fresno,
Nevada in the WAC this year....IMO its very likely the WAC will
be once again ranked ahead of the MAC/SunBelt conferences.
Maybe after 2012 you guys can move up....
Sagarin is a joke.

Sagarin means nothing. BCS money distribution does. The SBC has received a higher share two of the last four years.

If the Sagarin ratings are dependable, he has the USA Jags rated @ 126 -- good enough for fifth place in the SBC (were they part of the conference this year). Does that sound right to anyone? Sure sounds suspicious to MOI.
Just sayin'...

Sagarin does a fair job of ranking members of the same division, it's the intermingling of divisions that invalidates the system.

RE: Sounds like we're gaining a little cred among CUSA fans
There are 2 reasons why on paper the MAC "looks" better than the Sunbelt on paper. First, people on the national stage see someone like a CMU with only 2 losses or a Ball State go almost undefeated and say "ohh that conference must be decent" instead of realizing that there are 13 teams in the MAC, and by sheer numbers, if you have enough teams, SOMEONE is bound to have a good record. The SBC has 4 fewer schools, and a lot of the schools in the MAC are bad record padders.
The other reason that the MAC appears better on paper is who they play OOC, they are in a region where when they play their "money" games, they are going up against the Big 10 and the Big East, not exactly the 2 most dominant AQ conferences in the world, where as the SBC is constantly playing the SEC and Big 12 (more commonly the Big 12 south) in money games which are utterly brutal because these conferences have been producing national champions since the BCS was created. Oh and one other thing is that while the SBC only plays a handful of FCS schools a year, the MAC schedules are usually littered with these games which help pad their records.
I'll take the SBC over the MAC as a conference everyday, and twice on Sundays.

I like the Sun Belt...a lot. I want all of our members to remain and then pick up Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech to make a 12 team Conference that is fun and geographically sound.

There is a lot of respect within cusa for most of the sunbelt members. Frankly, a couple of sunbelt teams (USA and Mdl Tn) meet most of the cusa membership criteria if a new team were needed. ULL has only boarderline interest due to the conflict surrounding the name they want to claim and in which cusa does not want to get involved.

The statistics don't bare out the idea that the SBC is better than the MAC. The MAC has regularly finished higher in the Sagarin ratings. Its a bigger, deeper football conference than the SBC.
So, any conference that has more members is better, when all other things are pretty much the same. Mainly by having more chances by having additional teams that may break through and garner some poll or public attention.

Sounds as if it would be a good move considering the above quote, bigger makes you better. Guess more teams gives the conference more chances of having better rated teams. Personally, I don't necessarily think that way but evidently many people probably do, or just glass over the results and do not think about it.
