But if the R's have a Cain-Bachmann ticket I think I might just explode with delight!
Cain would rip Obama to shreds in a debate.
BTW, I've yet to hear anyone of you say "why" you still support Obama when he's doing the same things you opposed Bush on. Is it all about the D? I guess so.

You simply discount him using the smallest numbers you could find. Probably because he's a black conservative.
Could Gallup be suggesting a Cain-Bachmann ticket?
Please don't let it be Bachmann

I support Obama because he is our president and he mostly stands for what I believe.
I didn't say I would 100% vote for him. If he extends the Obama tax cut for the top earners, he will most likely not get my vote.

I don't support Obama because:
1. I don't buy the crap that we have to support him because he's the president. If we owe allegiance to anyone or anything, it's the Constitution and not a person. When I was an officer and a gentleman in the service of our nation, I swore to "protect and defend the Constitution ... against all enemies, domestic and foreign." I didn't swear allegiance to any person, even then, and I certainly am under no obligation to do so now.
2. He stands for exactly what I believe to be the worst possible approach to solving the problems we face as a nation. I strongly believe that the approach he is taking leads to Argentina at best and Zimbabwe at worst. The more he succeeds in implementing his socialist/communist agenda, the worse off we and the rest of the US are. And yes, I do believe it is a socialist/communist agenda (not sure which, but it's clearly one or the other). If you want to debate that issue, let's, but be sure to bring some facts because I will.

RE: Herman...Herman...Herman!!!
I never said you did have to support him. I support the President because he/she is the only one we have and I love this country.
I fully believe you can still support the President while criticizing him. That is the beauty of this country and what makes it awesome.
But I sure won't forget the many elected Republicans who labeled those criticizing Bush as "un-American".

There is absolutely no connection between loving the country and supporting the president. None. And it is disingenuous to imply otherwise.
I guess I was un-American then too, because there is very little Shrub did that I didn't criticize.
Bottom line, to me, is that Shrub can't be bad enough to make Obama good. Obama has to be good on his own to merit my support. And so far, he's not getting that done.

Let me be clear, I am not calling anyone un-American for criticizing the president...regardless of party.

Let me be clear, I don't think you are, and didn't mean to imply that.
I actually think we are having a reasonable discussion about an area where we disagree. I really do dislike all the love your country=love the president rhetoric, no matter who is the president. I'm sorry, but excessive identification of good for the leader=good for the state is how you end up with Hitlers. Not saying that either Shrub or O is Hitler, but a healthy skepticism on the part of the population, and scrupulous avoidance of the personality cult stuff, would always be sensible.
I believe that Obama's policies are so wrong-headed that Obama succeeds=US fails, and Obama fails=US succeeds.
I want my country to succeed.

So, you supported Bush?
I voted for him in 2000. Does that count?

RE: Herman...Herman...Herman!!!
What I really want to know about him is what he would plan to do about Social Security. Massive mismanagement has put this program into big trouble. I want to know what he plans to do about the generations ahead and our retirement system.
