Good for Carson! I don't blame him for wanting out of a losing organization. Carson is just sick of being Bunglized.

Now it's good riddance to Carson and get off of Mike's back?
Is there a Stockholm Syndrome for professional sports fans?

If it becomes apparent that he will in fact retire, you have to trade him. You can let him walk and get nothing in return, or you can make the trade and at least get something for him.
Same situation Denver is in right now with Carmello. Trade him now, and get something back, or wait and let him leave on his own and get absolutely nothing.

What is even more amazing is the sub culture who forgive mike brown
for all his incompetancies( 20years worth) , yet crucify mick at the same time.

RE: Carson Palmer’s house going up for sale
In 20 years mike brown has not figured out how to be a general manager. He has taken a once proud franchise and ruined it.
Don't tell me he is a good businessman either. Good business isn't about making as much money as you can, especially in the socialist revenue sharing NFL world. He has put out a terrible product. How would P&G fare if Tide constantly finished last or near the bottom of detergent testing or how would Skyline do if their chili was awful? Those businesses would fail. Mike brown is pumped up and kept afloat by the NFL and by having a regional monopoly. How would his business be if the product wasn't tied to Cincinnati and civic loyalty and/or if a viable alternative was closer and if people were already so invested in his product I.e. Good location seats, seat licenses, cultivated friendships amongst neighbors in stadium, etc.?
The value of his franchise already increased by network tv deals to which his team is not a national factor, was further increased by a public stadium with a poorly negotiated lease by a county commissioner who is now on brown's payroll. Certainly there appears to be some questionable ethical issues there and one has to wonder if illegal promises were made by brown.
Would his employees consider this franchise to be a great place to work?
Is he a good civic partner?
Has he built a world class organization?
It doesn't take a genius to make money in the NFL. And this wasn't his thing. His daddy built this. And brown certainly isn't one of the architects of the nfls success as evidence by his contrarian vote on nearly all NFL votes. He is more like a freeloader feeding off the other owners fruits.
As a gm, he has made terrible coaching hires. He has one of the worst records in professional sports. He has mismanaged personnel and made terrible personnel decisions. He has drafted more than his share of busts. Bad decisions to pass on trades that would have helped this team immensely.
Just cause you own land where oil was discovered doesn't make you a great oilman. I will give him this, I do think he has a very good legal mind. When it comes to football, he is that idiot son. As far as businessman, I think he is more of a fleeced and fraudster and welfare recipient.
There is no hope until he is gone. And then only slim hope that Katie isn't the same. At least hopefully she won't think she is a talent evaluator like mike fancies himself.

I feel the same about this. Wait and see. If Carson walks, good riddance, thanks but we can fix that in time. Be patient and see what happens.
Please don't think I am in Mikey's camp as I think he should retire and get a decent GM in here, but at least give him the opportunity. you can always tear him apart later.
I am utterly mind boggled by this post. Give him time? Wait and see? We can fix that in time? Be patient? Give him the opportunity?
Bengals fans have been doing that for 20 years and have gotten exactly 2 winning seasons. Mike Brown has run out of time. You wanna give the owner who set the NFL record for fastest to 100 losses more time? I say ***** and ***** and ***** some more and for gods sake stop going to games. I'd like to see that stadium with less than 5000 fans in it. Maybe Mikey will finally get it then. He needs to hire a good staff to run the show and step away. He'll still make his millions.

It's not the same situation as Denver. Carson has 4 years and $50 mil. left on his deal, he's not about to be a free agent.
I don't think there's much chance Carson retires. If he does, that says a lot about him I guess. I think NFL contracts are BS, but in this case, Palmer re-upped and took one of the biggest deals in the history of the NFL and has basically been an average QB since. He knew what he was getting into when he signed. He knew Mike Brown was always going to be the GM and that nothing would really change. And now he's whining about it and threatening to just quit? F Mike Brown, but I'm not with Palmer at all.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think he can just walk, then come out of retirement in the future and play for someone else. The Bengals will still hold his rights. That being said, probably best to trade him if and when a new CBA is worked out and then try to put some kind of BS positive spin on the whole mess.

Like all of you, I have no idea what the Bengals will do in April but now more than ever I think it would make sense to trade down if they can.
He will hold on to Carson and let him retire. That's how stupid MFB is.

Fact: Mike Brown is NOT a moron. He's a shrewd businessman.
Fact: Mike Brown does not place a high priority on building a winning franchise, as his two decades of ownership have proven out.
Whether a moron or not, the result is the same

Exactly. He is running the Bengals to make money, not to win championships. And the way money flows in the NFL, you can easily make a profit by not having a winning franchise. MB's just playing that game.
