Looking at verbal committments listed to date on Rivals, looks like WKU is putting together a great class. IMHO the best way to rate/rank is by the average star value rather than total numbers.

Here's what Rivals has up for the Belt thus far. Number of 3-star recruits are in parenthesis.

2.47 WKU (8)
2.38 UNT (5)
2.10 FIU (8)
2.05 ULM (3)
1.94 Muts (7)
1.81 ASU (5)
1.37 FAU (2)
1.11 Troy (4)
0.64 ULL (1)

Not really, Troy has a lot of no stars which means they haven't been rated yet. A few of them are JUCOs that were 3 and 4 stars out of high school. A zero star ranking does not mean they are zero star talent.

WKU is putting a nice class together, I agree.

And it also depends on who you put more stock in....Rivals, Scout, ESPN, etc. I have seen 3* on Scout with no rating on Rivals and 3* on Rivals that are 2* on Scout.

That being said, yes WKU is doing a great job.

When Rivals makes the commitment to cover SBC recruiting thoroughly, then they will be worth following. Agree, WKU is doing a fine job.

RE: FB: Way Tio Go WKU !
WKU is doing an excellent job, by any measure you look at, including who the kids they are signing, were being recruited by These ranking systems are, obviously, subjective in nature, and an inexact science based on observations/analysis via film or live action, of some of the players. When a player has 3-stars, whether deserving or not (meaning could be a 2-star or 4-star player rather than 3 depending on the "accuracy" of the evaluator), it means that the player had been scouted or looked on by any of the system's "analysts". On scout and rivals, if the player signs with an FBS team and they haven't even taken a look at the kid, or not even know who the kid is, they automatically assign 2-stars to the player. If they jump from Zero stars to 3 or 4 it means that said player was "evaluated" and for some reason, they found the player to be within the top 750 or so players in the nation (at least rivals.com explains it that way).

Alot of schools in the belt are doing well in recruiting. More players are staying in the belt than heading off to the MAC, WAC, or lower level BCS programs.

Rivals made a decision about a year ago to be alot more liberal with their stars then they used to be. A 3-star in 2011 would not be a 3-star in 2009. After that, all their rankings went to crap.

Ask me in 4 years. Then I'll tell you who had the best recruiting class. There's no other way to know.

i have to agree that WKU has the best class, then id say just about everyone else has done very well except for FAU and ULL..... the sunbelt though is doing alot better in recruiting !!! it used to be MUTS and Troy were the only schools that would get 3* recruits but now we are all getting them..... at any rate its good to see Sunbelt schools get recruits over the MAC, CUSA, MWC, etc....

Rivals is a joke, the top recruit in the cajuns class, Alonzo Harris (the #2 rated fullback by scout) is on rivals as a 3 star RB, but they have it labeled that he is committed to the Lafayette Leopards. I just cant put much stock into that recruiting service if they cant get something as simple as what school a player actually committed to correct.

You just need to break it down in something WKU can understand.
If you are eligible for parole in 2011, and you've already done 4 years, when were you incarcerated?

Well, the 2006-2009 recruiting battles were won by Troy and FIU. Their recruits out performed the other conference teams'.

spoken by the school that wants jarboe???

i was not aware of any of our players being incarcerated but i wouldn't be surprised. i always expect a percentage of football players to end up in some kind of trouble with the law.

i think thuggism is inherent in football players. the 'violence switch' is not a simple on/off switch. the majority can control it but a percentage can't.

i'm not aware of any incidents with thug fans. we have our share of hillbilly fans just like any school does. enlighten me on what incidents have take plus to put us in the thug fan category.

i'm seriously not talking smack. i'm just wondering where that perception has come from amongst sun belt fans.
