Oops, sorry! I meant a power RB. Unless, of course, Doeren likes Rucker.

RE: It's Dave Doeren
After reading the comments on the Milwaukee newspaper website it doesn't seem like too many fans are sad to see him go. According to them the defense defines "bend but don't break" and relied on zone coverage and rarely incorporated much blitzing. Someone commented that their crappy defensive scheme cost them the game against MSU. He was using caps lock.
Also, I saw several people refer to us as NI or UNI...didn't see NIU once.

RE: It's Dave Doeren
Yeah, I'm not sure I get the obsession with bringing in former players on our coaching staff. Let Doeren bring in his own guys.
Can't complain with this hire at all. Everybody knows I wanted Fleck, but I am not upset at all with Doeren. He seems like a solid choice.
It's going to be interesting to see who he brings in as the OC and what kind of offense we end up running.
And our people really complaining about him staying with Wisconson until after the Rose Bowl? Aren't we the same people who complained about Limegrover and Claeys bailing on us?

Especially since I just got the REAL scoop that our new FB head coach will be none other than fan-favorite Ricardo Patton. Compher heeded BB fans' wishes to dump Patton, and he did just that. Only problem is that with the time left on Patton's contract, Compher had to find a place for him. Today's 2 pm press conference will be to announce Patton as the new FB coach and, even more important, introduce Rob Judson at the new men's BB coach! Patton, however, will not be at the meeting, as he needs to get a new cellphone this afternoon so he can get right to recruiting.

RE: It's Dave Doeren
If Doeren is going to turn us into an under center up-the-gut offense, the #1 thing I immediately do is switch Lynch to running back.
No, seriously.
This is an idea I have been pondering, and now with the coaching hire, I think it's all the more realistic.
We haven't seen Lynch throw the ball yet. But we have seen him run...and he's about as fast a freshman QB as I've ever seen.
Lynch doesn't run like a shifty athletic QB. He runs angry, like an I-Formation running back. He hits holes hard and always gets the extra yard.
If we do indeed revamp this team's offense stylistically after Harnish leaves, it's hard for me to imagine Lynch succeeding as a pro-style QB, but his talent with the football is something we can't just allow to leave.

So Doeren can't come until after the Rose Bowl, huh?
It's the right way to do it! It shows integrity.
INTEGRITY. Yes. Something we haven't seen since Dec. 5th. Glad he's sticking with the Badgers thru the Rose Bowl.
Wow. I didn't know this was possible. Stay on until after the bowl game. A lot of people said that is not how college football works. This is the way it should work all the time!

I bet you won't be saying that once our recruiting class looks like crap in February.
Great hire by NIU. Excited to see what he can do with this current roster, but also excited to see what kind of talent he can bring to DeKalb in the next few years.

Does the 18 days from Kills announcement to our bowl game make that much of a difference?

Not a huge difference, but it could potentially cost us a couple of recruits. Don't seem like much, but you need to stay competitive in the recruiting game nowadays to keep a program going.
I am hoping that we haven't lost a step, but I just know how this board is. The same ppl saying it's okay for Doeren to stay at Wis till Rose Bowl will be the same one talking crap about our recruiting class.

RE: It's Dave Doeren
Coaches say you sell the school, not the coach. If there is any recruit that was excited to come here to play for Kill is not excited to come here to play for Doeren, then that kid probably would not have met our admissions standards. From what I can see, the Doeren hiring is an upgrade. Recruits should be anxious as to whether any unaccepted scholarship offer is still out there. But if they already verballed to NIU, there is NO reason why they wouldn't be MORE excited to come here to play now!

A lot of what a new coach can do is regulated by the NCAA. I believe he has to take a test...not kidding...in order to recruit.
