RE: WAC be gone
New Mexico State would probably be a better fit in the Sun Belt. If the Sun Belt adds them and Louisiana Tech that gives them 12 for football and a nice clean split for East and West divisions.

Louisiana Tech & New Mexico State don't have any interest in returning to the Sun Belt Conference. They would rather join Conference USA.

Not going to happen as long as the 12 schools presently in C-USA stay put. If somebody leaves for the Big East, then maybe La Tech and NMSU will be looked at. I know C-USA officials have considered inviting La Tech in the past; maybe they would consider it again.

RE: WAC be gone
Now with BYU becoming an Independent in football and joining the West Coast Conference for all other sports, I think that the Mountain West needs to add both New Mexico State and Utah State to get to 12 teams so they can have a conference title game.
MWC East: Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, TCU, Wyoming
MWC West: Boise State, Fresno State, Nevada, UNLV, San Diego State, Utah State
The Big Sky needs to add Idaho, San Jose State, and Southern Utah so they can have a conference title game also.
The Big Sky needs to move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision for scheduling non conference apponents.
Big Sky North: Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Portland State
Big Sky South: Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Utah, Weber State

I don't think the MWC needs 12 teams.....The 10 team lineup needs to say put for a few years. The MWC needs stability.
But if they did add teams, I think they would add Houston and UTEP.
Let the CUSA add La Tech and NMSU......

They need to go 12 teams and have a conference title game to make money because of the loss of BYU.

New Mexico State used to be in the Sun Belt. I enjoyed watching Lou Henson's team playing in Diddle Arena.

The Sun Belt wouldn't want them back.
They are going after Texas-San Antonio & Texas State.

The WAC better make up its mind on who they want to add before the schools make up their minds on they want to do.

ND ST would be a good ad for football only. THey beat Kansas last week and MN 2 years ago.

I don't think that would be good for the WAC. They are too far east. They are barely in North Dakota. They aren't that far from Minnesota. They are complaining about traveling to Louisiana already.

I have no interest in having La Tech back in the SBC. We have plenty of Louisiana teams already. Perhaps La Tech can seek membership in the Pioneer League.

With BYU and Utah gone the MWC stands to make less money than it did before. Boise helps but won't make up for the loss of the two premier programs in the conference (i.e. teams that bring in the TV money). When the MWC has to renegotiate their TV deal without BYU and Utah the conference stands to make perhaps even less than it does now. You add additional teams to get to 12 and you're doing nothing but dividing less money more ways. A conference championship game is not going to be lucrative enough for a non-AQ conference to make up the difference.

How do you know smart ass? If Boise State & TCU played in a conference title game that would make up the difference of the loss of BYU and Utah.

No it wouldn't. Close to 80% of The Mtn.'s revenue is derived from the state of Utah. One championship game isn't going to make the difference when the TV deal is going to decrease off the bat because The Mtn. will be in the red even more. And you're talking about adding two additional teams on top. The MWC would see a huge decrease in their per team payout. And that championship game would probably be on Friday night, because the SEC, ACC, Pac-12, Big 10, and CUSA games will be on Saturday - CUSA by contract and the others by demand. There won't be a Saturday time slot for the MWC game unless it's on CBS College Sports, ESPN U, or The Mtn.

New Mexico State & Utah State would join the MWC because they see that the WAC is a dying conference.

Dude. Do you have any clue? Utah State and NMSU don't get to invite themselves to the party. They have to wait and hope the MWC invites them, which isn't going to happen until the MWC manages to right its TV contract if at all.
