Sean Cotton committed to EMU today.

He also made reference to the players from Chicago Simeon who will announce tonight.

Today could be a very nice day for EMU football.

Here is a little write-up just posted on the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/EMUFootball#!/no...1187354933

Check out YouTube video of Demarius Reed. It showcases more of his WR skills than his CB skills. Looks like he could be a major talent on both sides of the ball.

+1

NO one had heard of Devin Henderson before. Thanks for the info.

Nice sleuthing.

Scout has him graduating from Harper JUCO in December.

Could he be the mystery 6th mid-year JUCO EMU enrolled this month? (nope, I checked the EMU student directory)

Described as a 'freakish' athlete who sometimes let academics hold him back. Apparently has been followed by both MAC and BCS schools.

Graduated from Kurt Anderson's high school.

'Nickle is going to like this guy. Former TE turned DE.

As he has or is supposed to have his degree, we'll book him as a qualifier and ready to go in August.

Ryan Brumfield RB from Philly.

I loved his YouTube. Someday someone will ask how did other schools pass on him.

(I now count 15 scholarships given).

In the last 3 days we've learned the names of 5 future Eagles: Cotton, Reed, Scott, Henderson, and Brumfield.

EMU added a LOT of speed this weekend.

BTW, didn't we determine that the TE from the western part of MI, Dylan Brooks, is a verbal??? (or was that an old newspaper article which might no longer be true?).

If so that would make 16.

It was a news article from November.

I'm assuming it still holds but in recruiting November is a long time ago.

RE: 2011 FB Verbals Thread
Interesting that this class so far seems to be in line with the general opinion of this forum regarding team needs. The positional distribution is spot on. Effort has been made to add experienced talent to the defense and there are only HS players being added to the offense. The number of kids with scholarship offers from other D1A schools might be more than any other class EMU has had.

Still need a few more things though

1. a HS LB or two.
2. a OL or two
3. More DL help
3. a WR. Getting Lockhart would be great. Reed and Allen might be slot guys.

Think you are right on, Nickle.

All of the h.s. kids on offense and JUCOs on defense was predictable.

English never had the need for 'quick fix' on offense.

He's building a classic h.s. recruited offense.

Lockhart doesn't show us at all, though, and he seems to be a lock for BCS.

Trammer from Inkster would be a good h.s. LB prospect. Believe EMU has been in contact with him.

I still believe KA (Kurt Anderson) could still be at work in IL. That state still is fertile for what you specified above. There are say 4 good prospects at OL/DL scrambling for offers (often kids who shot too high and now coming down to earth - kids frequently hoping Big Ten or decommitting and haven't recommitted yet).

One other thought:

I don't know of any of our recruits who are questionable academically or have 'issues' which might have caused other schools to back off.

Brumfield has a 3.0 GPA per an article.

This class should look as good in August as it does now.

BTW, another board is indicating OSU is looking at Glasgow.

Don't know if preferred walk-on or scholarship.

Trammer might have grade issues. One of the long shots from IL is headed to No. IL.

Quite frankly, the remaining verbals/signees could be a surprise to me.

They could be from an area where we just don't recruit - kids completely off our radar - not IL, California, Michigan, Florida, etc.

Seems to be more excitement and information out there than in years past -- stemming all the way since JGenyk took over. I can remember last year (especially) us seeing so many unfamiliar names on the final signing list.

Good job boys for digging all of this info up!

RE: 2011 FB Verbals Thread
I'm hearing very good things out of IL from those who have watched Henderson play and mature as a student and athlete.

This kid apparently dropped out of JUCO a year and then came back determined to get it done.

This kid is described as a 'freakish' athlete who should contribute right away in the MAC. Assume he'll stay at DE.

What I like is that it is KA's home turf. If he makes a mistake on a kid from his h.s. I'd be surprised. He should know the h.s. coaches on a first name basis, the competition the player played against, etc.

One point which I think helps solidify this class SIGNIFICANTLY and no one has mentioned it.

We have 3 sets of players who are teammates and committed together and wanted to play together.

We have Poole and Kurtz, Russell and Cotton, and Reed and Scott.

I think that is a BIG plus for the kids and this recruiting class.

I can't think of a more positive development.

Either that or...
One was REALLY good and we took the other just so they'd come...
Just kiddin' LoL
Seriously though... I've heard nothing but great things about those mentioned above!

I saw some of the YouTube (posted on EMU Football - Facebook).

Damn, he looks like Brandon Pettigrew. Can even run pitch sweeps.

He is one helluva athlete.
