For now there isn't much new to talk about with conference movement, so I'd like to know which team the board thinks needs a new look the most.

I'm voting for WKU. A hand holding a red towel. I know it's a basketball thing, but it just looks funny. It looks like a hand swinging an old used tampon.

As for for the best logo, I'd probably have to say, Arkansas State, but not by much. Overall, our whole conference needs beter logos. I know almost every fan at North Texas would like to change ours. I'm all for bring back the flying worm.

I like Middle's. Sure when put into physical manifestation, it looks like a big gay pony, but the logo itself is bitchin'.

FAU really needs a new look

We need to scrap the North Texas crap and go with the SOW

Before the name change I really liked all the old ULM helmets

I liked Troy's old black helmets

I would put stAte, FIU, FAU, MT, and maybe ULM in the best category and the rest in the not category.

To me three things are vital.
1. Communicates who is playing.
2. Shows up well on TV.
3. Shows up well from the stands.

The overly wordy helmets just don't convey a major college feel to them.
My beef with ULM is it hasn't been around long enough to be recognized, it takes time to become iconic.

If you look around the top schools most pick a look and stick with it and only make minor tweaks.
Nebraska essentially unchanged since 1970, same for OU since 1977, Texas since 1961, TAMU basic logo since 1965, USC since 1972, Florida State since 1976, Virginia Tech since 1983.

I have worn hats or shirts with the stAte logo outside the Sun Belt area and its not uncommon for someone to recognize the logo. So far haven't had that happen with our new wolf logo. Unless ASU drops a change on us this year, same logo with tweaking for 22 of the past 31 years.

The stylized FAU logo to me communicates the image of being more established than the program is. It feels historic which I think is important for a program with so little history.
Troy there isn't enough contrast for the logo to stand out.

The horsie for MT doesn't show up for nothing but the MT does. Barring change this year 11 consecutive for that design and same color combo plus use of letters MT since 1979 even though the font has changed and the horse added.

UNT had a great look 83-93 because it survives changes in fads and has an iconic look. The flying worm is cool but a product of the era.

For the Cajuns, the old USL helmet had pop. The tri-fleur was not a bad look either.

I agree.

I love FAU's helmet for many of the reasons Arkstfan posted above.

The uni's/helmet to me come off as very traditional and old school. I wouldnt change a thing. I think the White helmet with the FAU in blue really stands out.

If we went to the Owl logo it could EASILY get lost in the shuffle that is Rice/Temple/FAU etc etc....

i agree, i love our old Troy State logo. when the University announced the name change, there was a large contingent of students (including myself) who protested it. We all stocked up on Troy State apparel and memorabilia. I'm very happy I did that. My younger brother arrived at Troy the first semester after the name change. he also loved the old logo and begged me to give him a lot of my TSU stuff. poor kid.

I wish we'd drop the horse from our helmets. He looks fine on the right side, but the left side, we turn him around to face forward, and it screws up the logo, IMO.

But, I haven't been able to find much apparel without the horse on the MT anymore. I should have stocked up on my "perfect" hat which recently disintegrated. I had to go with a MT horse logo one to replace it. :(

I don't care for the new USA logo, although the "stalking jaguar" didn't look too hot either. I actually think the monogram "USA" would look better on the helmet.

Agreed. I actually like the USA helmet logo but the white on white thing doesn't work -- you cannot see the logo from the stands -- looks like they're wearing flat white helmets from that perspective. Were they to switch to a red helmet, or a blue helmet, the current logo would look much better, in my not-so-humble-opinion...

Agreed. I agree the current Jag logo is too bland and needs to be bolder. Also, if the white helmets had red and blue stripes down the center they would look pretty good, IMO.

Troy State

I like the Jags' helmet OK and am satisfied. Good looking logos don't win championships but ULM, Troy, and UMT all have nice-looking logos. I won't say which team has the worst.
