Cool The Belt's Greatest Football Rivalry
Who's ready to see our Conference's PREMIER rivalry next Tuesday? I'm sure all of you will be watching on ESPN, but I will be there! Sitting pretty on the 40 baby. 04-rock

I hope to see a large crowd from the Raiders, UAB was a big dissapointment in the size of their following. Hey guys, how many of the Blue Raider faithful are coming down to the "Walled City?"

Also, does anyone OUTSIDE these two fanbases have a prediction for this game?

Can't wait to remind the Conference, and the nation, why TROY owns the Palladium trophy. You know, they say that as long as the Trojans held the Palladium within their walls, the Greek Raiders could never take the city. Good luck stealing it before the game, Larry has it in his office. He has Terminators guarding it. 05-mafia

That's not quite the self-satisfying physical exertion I was referencing... But you're a more socially appropriate fan in this instance. 04-cheers

Troy - 18-3 SBC record in the past 3 years. At least a share of the title in the past three years.

MTSU - 13-8 in the past 3. Share of the title in their 6-1 season in 2006.

Combined record against UNT - 6-0

UNT's SBC record in that time - 3-18, with the last two being 1-6 and 0-7.

And while we're at it:

ASU - 11-10, 3-0 against UNT
FAU - 14-7, 3-0 against UNT, share of one league title
FIU - 5-16, 2-1 against UNT
UL - 11-10, 2-1 against UNT
ULM - 10-11, 2-1 against UNT

So we'll continue to post that we're the best, until proven otherwise.

I'm gonna have to say MT is the best. Just look at how they've played. I know Memphis and Maryland haven't played the well, but those are still good wins. This is the most solid MT team I've seen in a while.

I doubt you'll see a big MT crowd. A weekday trip to Troy, AL isn't possible for many. We haven't had a good chance to give Troy a big crowd in a while. It seems the game has always been on a weeknight, or in a downpour.

It'll be up to rural Alabama to pull themselves away from Dancing With The Stars and fill the stadium for ESPN.

hahaha, yeah and there's about as good a chance of that happening as there is UNT changing their mascot to a Penguin. Most everyone I know is planning on watching the game on ESPN2, but i'll be there...and if you happen to know me personally, you'll know that i'll be screaming loud enough to make up for the low attendence i predict.

OUCH....but we did have four trips in a row to Nawlins.......1 shared championship and 3 outright and a 26 game undefeated streak in conference. Pan and try to downplay it all you wish with claims of "we're better now" etc....... but you haven't done it. Heck of the 3 championships you claim, only 1 is outright with a sit at home on one.05-stirthepot But please, keep entertaining us with stories of your greatness04-cheers Maybe "As Troy Roars" will replace "As the World Turns" as a soap opera.:ncaabbs:

The conference is leaps and bounds better now than it was then. The four UNT squads that won four consecutive titals, would not be nearly as dominant in today's Belt. They'd be better than your last few teams and would maybe win a couple of titles, but the level of talent and competition now is so much higher than it was then.

I think this speaks for itself:

Offense (In League Play)

36ppg Troy
36ppg Lousiana

31ppg Fl. Int.
30ppg Fl. Atl.
30ppg Louisiana Monroe
26ppg Arkansas State
24ppg Middle Tennessee
19ppg North Texas

Defense (In League Play)

17ppg Troy
24ppg Arkansas State
26ppg Middle Tennessee
27ppg Florida Atlantic
31ppg Louisiana Monroe
32ppg Florida International
32ppg Louisiana
46ppg North Texas

Margain of Victory (In League Play)

+19ppg Troy
+4ppg Louisiana
+3ppg Florida Atlantic
+2ppg Arkansas State
-1ppg Florida International
-1ppg Louisiana Monroe
-2ppg Middle Tennessee
-27ppg North Texas

As we see the Margain of Victory in League Play, we see that the Trojans were in a class by themselves, in an entirely different league. None of you came close. This was done last year, with new starters at QB, RB, and WR. Half of the defense had to be replaced as well. New OC with a few other new staff members. That's domination. Domination by sophmores at QB, WR, and RB. Then domination by a third string QB who came in for an injured Jamie Hampton. Does anyone really want to argue how much our rebuilding year dominated last season? ULM is the only team that can say anything.

That could all end Tuesday. But for now, Troy has been pretty dominant.

Possibly, but the UNT 2002 team was the #3 scoring defense in the country giving up 13.5 ppg. OC schedule included Texas, 'Bama, Arizona and TCU. Not exactly a creampuff OC schedule.......What "better years" Belt team has come close ? As I said pan us, try to diminish accomplishments, it's not our fault you folks suxed as bad as you say.

I won't diminish your accomplishments. UNT had the most successful run of anyone. At the same token, you can't take away from Troy domination over the last couple of years. Especially last year in a rebuilding year, where we averaged a +19 margin of victory in sun belt play, where the next closest only averaged +4.

I don't see how you can turn a blind eye to that. It's pretty glaring to me. I only bring it up when folks start talking about how Troy has been pretty even with the rest of the teams in the sun belt, when that's obviously not the case. That may be the case this year, as the league seems a lot more balanced, but sun belt fans on here have been blasting Troy like they were on par with everyone else. They weren't, and maybe they'll be just as dominant this year. I know some of it is caused by Troy fans who constantly run it down people's throat how great we've been recently. I typically don't do that, just in defense of those who try to devalue what the Trojans have done recently. Again:

Margain of Victory (In League Play) (2008)

+19ppg Troy (Pretty glaring gap between the next highest if you ask me)
+4ppg Louisiana
+3ppg Florida Atlantic
+2ppg Arkansas State
-1ppg Florida International
-1ppg Louisiana Monroe
-2ppg Middle Tennessee
-27ppg North Texas

I haven't turned a "blind eye" to what Troy has done in the past 3 years. I will, however repeat, you have won ONE outright, not shared championship of the THREE. You were one of the conference dominate teams, but not "dominate" enough to go to Nawlins three straight times for you three straight titles (won or shared). When Florida Atlantic beats you out for the conference bowl game, I don't beleive you can claim dominance. Maybe a slice of dominance.03-idea

this thread needs to get back on track. if you want to talk smack, take it to the smack board. this thread is for discussion of the Battle for the Palladium game.

this has nothing to do with the fact I am a Troy fan, i am simply doing my job as a moderator.

I'll give you that. Those are good points. However, in 2006, even though we didn't win it outright by "sun belt standards", anywhere else that is considered winning the conference. We had the same record as MTSU, but we beat them. In 2007, we dominated every team we played save FAU. I dont claim a title in that. FAU won and that's it. I say we have two titles. MTSU doesnt deserve a medal for tieing with the team they lost to. Troy doesn't deserve a medal for tying with FAU. They won fair and square. No where else shares titles. You either win or you lose.

Co-Champ? Seriously? That's more the same BS the young generation is being fed. You get a medal for trying. That's crap. You either win or you lose. No medals.
