RE: FB: Reasons Why YOUR Team Will Topple Troy This Season
I think it is gonna be WKU. North Texas forgot we lost to them, so it could be worse. I really don't think it will be this year but the last two years we have been competitive with Troy, fielding an inferior roster. We now have two legit Div. 1 recruiting classes and some kids that were being recruited by football schools.

I, like most Topper fans, are hesitant to make grand prognostications after this dismal year, but in 4 of the 5 games against SunBelt teams this year (FAU, UNT, Troy, and MUTS) we only lost by 4, 11, 10, and 11 with a roster full of 1AA players and underclassmen. Also, we've redshirted many players for the last two years. We've proven we can be competitive but that's all. In 2007, we beat the MUTS in the 'boro by 4, and lost to Troy by 4 and UNT by 1. It means nothing until we start winning but, I'm very hopeful. WKU has a tremendous history of successful football and that's not going to change. The question is...how long until we return? We have the facilities, the tradition, the fanbase, and a conference we can compete in....Time will tell.

Hmm... Does that mean you have to stop posting on the SBC forum?

Well, if we're being nit-picky, technically the Sun Belt is not a league, but a conference. Leagues are usually reserved for Professional Sports, i.e. the National Football LEAGUE , the National Hockey LEAGUE ,or Major LEAGUE Baseball.

I was actually referring to the old saying "Not in the same league as....." and not actually saying we're not in the same conference.

Not to be even MORE nit-picky, but what about the Horizon League and the Ivy League?

Try this, it will help you forget the miserable state your athletics programs are in at UNT.

I'm very interested to see where Leonard ends up in the NFL. he's a hell of an athlete and a very good QB. I wouldn't mind seeing him in two-tone blue.

Leonard won't make it to the NFL. He's good for us but not the NFL. No scout has even asked about him. Its all been about Carrington.
