I dont know if some of you guys have been over at the cusa board, but there is a real disdain for Tech over there. I was wondering what some of our wac brothers think about this. We seem to be public enemy number one, and I really dont know why that is. I understand some critiquing, but what those guys are doing borders on hate.

I guess they just don't like Ruston!!!
Seriously, Tech has a pretty good tradition in football and they probably just don't want another loss on their schedule.
I like the Boise State rivalry, but it would make more sense for Tech to be in CUSA.
The MWC did not want TCU, but it still happened.

I think that some of the eastern schools fell in love with the idea of Toledo or Miami OH. In a way, I can't blame them because that's who they know. But they won't let go and accept that the Rockets, although a quality program, just aren't a good fit for C-USA.
The schools who weren't in favor of expanding into the northeast were generally behind La Tech, so for those other guys, the Bulldogs became public enemy #1. Now that it looks like Toledo is out of the picture, they're too stubborn to quit bashing Tech.
I gotta say, the very... ahem, "direct" nature of the replies from Bulldog fans didn't win Tech many fans on this board. Not that I blame some of those guys for defending their school, but talking smack to the fans of a school in a conference you want to join is a "winning battles/losing wars" strategy.
In a lot of ways, I want Tech to get the invite even more now. All that animosity will make for some good smack and heated rivalries right out of the gate. Can't wait to hear the pissing and moaning once La Tech hits one of those other teams in the mouth and beats 'em. :D
Tech has a good program that's always been underfunded. Despite that, the Bulldogs have overachieved in many ways and graduated players at the same time. No matter what happens, you guys should be proud.

Thanks for some of the insight guys. Yeah, some of our fans, myself included, have said some pretty "direct" :D things over the past couple of months. Some of it justified, some not. But anyway, I will miss the boise games. I was in ruston for this years game, and as always, it was a shootout with yall on top this time. But back on topic.
I guess, in a way, some of the shots our admin. has been taking for the lack of this and that (budget, etc.) may have a posititve effect in that it will force them to step up to the plate and fork over the $ to get the job done. As far as the football goes, I just wish our team would be play to its full potential. Last year we lost games we should not have. Hawaii comes to mind, as well as boise (b/c the game was in ruston) and of course the rice debacle(sp). What blows my mind is we have the talent to beat some big bcs team every year, but then screw it up by losing other games we should win. This year we play miami, tenn. and auburn. If history is true to form we will beat one of them, and get blown out of the water by the other two. :( Yes the big win is nice, but I will take more wins over the "big" win anyday.

I agree BigEasy... no matter what happens, your administration can and should use this process as a wakeup call for making improvements. That's a very positive way to look at things.
I've said it many times before, but it's a shame that your administration hasn't taken care of business regarding facilities and budget. If they hadn't been asleep at the wheel, you guys would be a slam dunk for C-USA membership.

I think thats true cane gang. It seems our admin. is more reactive than proactive. They seem to only act when they are forced to. I love my school, but we need a wake up call, and by getting passed over this time it could work out for us better in the end.(even though I want in now of course.)
Dont get me wrong I have some respect for utep, but besides basketball they stink at everything esle. However, they have an admin. who seems to be on the ball and can get things done. And in the end I guess that is all that matters. I mean, we have a solid athletic program (besides what some others say on this board :D ) and a great location, but that may not be enough.
