These are ideal times to introduce the delegations of new members like USC and UCLA, and even a better time when all eyes are upon each conference to meet their audience with big news, or end it that way to keep the press engaged. That news could be details on media deals, conference payout totals, or to announce new additions.
I'm not promising it will be the latter, but we've essentially been rumor and press release free for 4 days. And the brakes on PAC / B12 talks seemed odd. No harm in talking, unless something else has come up.
Do you suspect the SEC is looking West in earnest? Or that such an approach would be purely a negotiating tactic?
You know I love a good out of the box move so that one has me intrigued.
I just have a gut feeling that Sankey may be looking at Kansas (for basketball), I don't know why but I have felt that for a long time.
If the SEC could get Kansas, UNC and Virginia to go with what we already have - our basketball would be on par with our football and the SEC Basketball tourney would only be rivaled by the NCAA in money generated.
Correct. And it doesn't create an undue burden on a top-heavy power football schedule. It balances it. I'd be fine if we added Kansas, Duke, UNC and Virginia and called it a day. 4 AAUs and 3 national brands.
If the SEC made that move, the Big 10 would most definitely scoop up Florida St and Miami, maybe GT too. Would the SEC be ok if the Big 10 planted a flag in their backyard?
Sure b/c I think adding those schools would be detrimental to all parties. The B1G would be better off focusing on UVA, UNC and Duke.
