Krzyzewski’s words were interpreted around college athletics as verbal shots lobbed at NCAA headquarters. He said that college basketball has had its “head in the sand,” and is “happy” to see the California bill “push the envelope.” Essentially, Coach K did everything but walk into Emmert’s office, stick a finger in his chest and demand action.

Good for Coach K. I always cringed at the "we do it the right way" sanctimony of Duke (despite the fact that they recruit exactly the same way as John Calipari and Kentucky, who are just more honest about it), but it's nice to see someone with the gravitas of Coach K call a spade a spade here.

I have zero sympathy for the NCAA claiming that things are moving too fast or that people haven't thought about the repercussions. Coach K used the exact same phrasing that I have had: the NCAA has stuck its head in the sand for years, so for them to now cry that things are being forced on them is complete B.S. The NCAA and its members have no one to blame but themselves for their inaction for years (and frankly, decades).

After the scandal with the shoe company, I have little faith in these major AAU factories. MBB has been sullied to me until proven otherwise.
