According to those who know Charlie best he can be stubborn. Once he has made up his mind, he doesn’t change it. He rewards loyalty and never forgets those who were not.

Bourne is the consummate politician. He can answer a question intelligently without really saying anything. Charlie is more of a tell it like it is kind of guy. This is why I believe Charlie leaves the question an answer stuff to Jeff.

If you had dinner with Charlie, you would like him. I may not agree with every decision he makes but I do respect him as a person and as the VP of Finance at JMU. He does his job well and yes, his will big shoes to fill once he is gone.

I've personally never met the guy, so I can't speak of his character. IMO, the problem isn't him. The problem seems to be the distribution of power. He seems to have a LOT of power for a person that is in charge of financials.
Here's the thing, though: I don't think he's abusing that power. It was given to him and in part he is using it.
Lastly, people need to be careful what they wish for. It's entirely possible that the next person in line could be a big mistake and use their power even more so. And use that power in a way that destroys all the hard work that has been done.
