The PAC 12 might not be able to get Texas, but they will go for it again. They also have a shot at Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa St., and could grab New Mexico, if needed.

Or Texas could say "forget it!" and go the independent route - placing Olympic sports in the AAC.

If they had a shot at Oklahoma it would have happened the second time around when Oklahoma was trying to pressure Texas into moving to the PAC. It wont happen without Texas, thus it wont happen.

Oklahoma is not going out West with that line up you list.

Texas will go Independent as you say but you seem to have mistyped AAC instead of ACC. It is understandable, it is only one letter.

Face it H1 the end game at ESPN is to try to build something around Texas and Notre Dame so that a rival in either perception or reality is created to play against the SEC giving the Mouse the two top perceived super powers. Now they can do this by using your favorite concept of Texas moving as an independent to the ACC to counter balance N.D.'s deal for the Southern half of the ACC leaving N.D. its former Big East buddies in the North along with the Southern basketball schools.

Or, bring N.D. to Texas and Oklahoma along with Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, others for a rebuilt Big 12. Either way Texas and N.D. wind up anchoring two different regions of the country with enough cache around them to add credibility to their annual resumes.

If it's the latter then scenarios unfold quite differently. I would think that the Big 10 would have to be interested in Syracuse and Boston College for market consolidation. The SEC would like N.C. State and Virginia Tech. Then a 16 school Big 12 can be created by permitting the PAC to move to 16 with Texas Tech, T.C.U., Kansas State, and Oklahoma State.

That frees the Big 12 to become this:
Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas
Iowa State, Louisville, Pittsburgh, West Virginia
Duke, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Virginia
Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami
