RE: Cajun Baseball up tp #1 again in Collegiate Baseball 4/7
First, UNO deserved to win the game last night. They got the hits in critical situations and the Cajuns didn't. You can't have the bases loaded with one away and not score, and then have runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and only score one run. UNO pitchers made the pitches they needed at the critical times, and the Cajun hitters showed some poor strike zone recognition.
That being said, those first five innings were brutal to watch. With the 30mph wind gusts, the rain was blowing sideways. I don't know why they didn't stop the game until it somewhat cleared. I know during the inning where UNO scored the five runs the pitcher appeared to have trouble gripping the ball. It seemed like for about three batters he didn't get the ball within a foot of the strike zone, and most were at the height of the batters head. It was brutal sitting in the stands watching as well. I felt bad for the pitcher having to throw during those conditions. This didn't decide the game as the Cajuns came back and tied the game in the bottom or the inning so I'm not blaming the weather, but those conditions to play in were bad.
