I don’t believe either GCU or NMSU ever had anything to worry about. Neither of their coaches were interviewed. ACU’s coach Golding was on of the candidates TT actually interviewed. Big sigh of relief in Abilene. ACU could not begin to match TT money although every effort will be made to boost his salary enough that other mid majors won’t be as attractive.

Texas Tech promotes Mark Adams with the hopes of keeping the current Red Raider program intact. Otherwise a lot of the players would jump ship forcing Texas Tech to start from scratch; with some of their top players going to Texas to follow Beard. That would only add insult to injury for loosing Beard to an instate conference rival. Before Texas Tech hired Adams, their were a few Tech players I was hoping would land at NMSU. Wishful thinking on my part.
