The NCAA actually did UConn a favor here - Ollie is suing the University for his full $10 million buyout plus another million in damages (I think), but there's language in the contract voiding it fully if violations are found to occur. Ollie getting hit with a show cause for three years and UConn getting their self-imposed sanctions accepted and otherwise skating is in many ways a best-case scenario (if you're particularly cold-hearted).

This Hartford Columnist and former UCONN Beat Writer wants UCONN to still pay Ollie $1-$2 Million to make this case "go away" and not linger for years to come.

That's probably the right move. He's a program/NBA alum, well-liked by his general generation of program alums, won a national title as a coach, and is the most successful coach in AAC history. Find a number that lets him pay his lawyers and walk away with a little cash to keep him stable while he finds an NBA job and let everyone move on.
