UCONN / Ollie Violations - bearcatmark - 07-02-2019 11:08 AM

Not surprised by this. Hard to be between the 6th and 9th best team in the conference every year without breaking a few rules.

I may be one of the only ones excited about Uconn leaving... It gives our Womens basketball team a great chance at winning hte Conference on a regular basis and making the tourney.

They cheated and still didn't have a winning conf record over the last 3 years?

NCAA hits Kevin Ollie hard in findings, puts UConn on probation for two years

i would have given both heavy punishment to both..or little punishment to both

uconn basically got a 2 year probation..

ollie got a 3 year show cause...

but reading the violations is so silly to me.
- encouraged players to play pickup games, and had student manger keep track of who was playing
- a video coordinator talking to a recruit, who arent allowed to talk to a recruits
- a friend of his who is a trainer, who became a booster becuase of ollie, gave a player some extra training

looks like the ncaa is punishing him for not fully participating in investigation ..even though all of it was a sham from the get go

Meanwhile, writing $100k checks to players is totes cool.

@NeillOstrout

So.... that's kind of weird. Is vacating sub-.500 seasons a punishment?

RE: UCONN / Ollie Violations - ECUGrad07 - 07-02-2019 12:00 PM

That is a proper goodbye for UCONN.

Let's not act like you had the money sitting around to pay Ollie either.

You don't vacate the losses.

#FakeNews. They've decided to vacate the entire seasons.

And the football team. And the conference. And any shot at P6. The list of things UConn is vacating could probably be its own thread.

hmm, they suck at football, they suck at basketball, and they suck at cheating.
The tri-fecta.

question where do you think the women's tourney will be in 2020-2021?

my guess it will be in Tampa, Orlando would be nice too

I think there are two strong possibilities:

Dallas/Ft. Worth putting the tournaments in close proximity to each other makes sense and can make the whole thing an event. There are probably some nice smaller areana (6-8k) in the area and good scheduling will mean fans can support both teams if they want.

Florida makes a lot of sense as well, decent destination, two pretty solid programs close to each other.
