That suggests that there are those opposed to the move, but since there are always people in both sides of a fight happy to spread rumors to serve their interests, it doesn't really tell us which side is winning the argument.

If JMU gets announced as the Sunbelt add to replace WKY, we'll know which side won the argument. And we'll also know if Jax State gets announced, or maybe that other school that has good crowds and not so exciting football performance on the field (and a range of other controversial factors, but discussing them tends to get into things that are topics for a different forum on this site).

Transition now and be available as an FBS school could well be the best strategy for getting into the MAC in any event, since the MAC could well be fine right now with just sitting to see if a more attractive program becomes available. No telling what could shake out if the ACC becomes unraveled, and there is no pressing need for the MAC to add a school just to make up the numbers for a 12 school conference with a CCG.
