From the Board of Visitors Bylaws, adopted August 3, 2020, part C.
"The Board has adopted these Bylaws to set forth the workings of the Board, the University and the College, and to fulfill its obligations under the law. The Board adopted codes of ethics for the University and the College that apply to all members of the institutional community – board members, employees, students, and volunteers (see Section XII. A. and B.). The Board strives to preserve the ideals and traditions of the institutions under its jurisdiction, including the student- administered Honor System that originated in the earliest years of the University.

W&M floated a vacancy two months ago, probably to fill Kuehn's vacated slot.
That post was initiated to fill Carney (baseball SC) resignation. Presently seeking to fill 3 SC and 4 trainer who have resigned the high performance program. Korem was let go the same week as the demise of 7 sports announcement. Although Huge first hire, he was never completely engaged at WM and aggressively sought to find a new gig.

Article on plagiarism in Daily Press/Virginian Pilot. It is the lead article in the online version.
The plagiarism story is getting major push by social media which is trickling down to traditional journalism outlets. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying plagiarism isn't serious. I'm saying this plagiarism is being pushed by the swim/track crowd and is serving as a distraction from the real cause-- the cutting of 7 sports. This only serves as means of attack at Huge in hopes of leveraging her out. Does it make her look bad? Sure. But I think it accomplishes little else. For Huge, it is an easy pivot to say that the release was coauthored by her and the Stanford AD. I'm pretty sure her mentor would back her.
I think she should be dismissed regardless of other transgressions. Given the bylaws posted by Tribal, it is either going to be Huge or a scapegoat who gets in trouble. I would expect that this isn't something that Rowe would spin in any way other than negative. A line needs to be drawn in the sand at some point. Credibility for the University is at stake here. Great publicity about the covid on 60 Minutes followed by a scandal isn't a good look for Rowe.

I didn't say she said it anywhere. I said it would be an easy pivot. If she wanted to go that route, it wouldn't appease the pitchfork wielders but it would probably appease fellow administrators responsible for her employment. For the record, I'm fine with her being fired. I just don't think this course is the means to do it.

My point is, it's hard to pivot after admitting to wrongdoing. Her attorney would have advised against public admission of wrongdoing or "falling short of standards"...even I know that. The plagiarism is, to me, a technicality wrongdoing that would normally go unnoticed. The main issue, again, to me, is the blatant lie that she turned over every rock. That shows a tremendous disrespect for us low-level fans. Not a one of us was contacted and we all know we weren't contacted to help because she wanted those programs gone.
Had she simply said, "W&M can't continue with these 7 programs, and if the money required to retain them isn't raised by November, I will cut 7 teams" ppl would've been upset but, like firing Shaver, it would've just been another unpopular decision.

She has plenty of marks against her on the tally sheet of AD malpractice, no doubt. Letting her go is very possible and would be very deserved.
Not to get political, but in the current world where you can get away with denying you said something that is on video, recording, and print- is it too great a stretch to think Huge certainly could pivot and claim that her statements were misunderstood or taken out of context? Especially if AD Muir issues a statement that backs her version of things. There is plenty of stuff to attack her on that are directly related to her duties as an AD.

This is the crux of the matter. There comes a time when Rowe, the BOV, and any other powers that be will be tired of defending her and will decide that she is more trouble than she is worth.
Pray God that that time come sooner rather than later.

I think this is far more likely. Rather than the president and BOV letting her go for a particular poor decision or incident, she would be let go just to make the publicity go away. It's likely, as many suspect, that her actions are in step with the wishes of the bov. To insulate themselves, Huge could be sacrificed.

Maybe I'm just a pessimist but I can't see that happening. Through this whole process I've just assumed that these boards and social media are much more anti-Huge than both the general fan base and, especially, any sort of decision makers. Does anyone here have their finger on the pulse of big $$ donors or the BOV? I'd love to know what they actually think about this

My assumption is that the latest issue is being reviewed as we type these messages. If she has violated the University policy, she probably violated her contract. That would mean firing for cause which could get us off the hook for paying the rest of her contract.
This story from Sportico, "Donors to Eliminated Sports Find Colleges Still Keep the Money," is interesting on the "what happens to the money" question, particularly as it discusses our esteemed emulatees at Stanford.
I was thinking that it would be like the older problem we had where donations to a sport basically meant their internal budget got cut the same amount so the athletic department could put the money wherever. If the endowment just gets rolled into the athletic department general funds, I would think that's what would happen.
Someone apparently set up a fake Twitter acct and posted the following. Littel denied the account, reported it to Twitter, and stated that the BOV is always ready to listen. Setting up fake accounts to embarrass Rowe, Huge, BOV, or anyone else is childish and doesn't help on any level.
"This is a difficult time for all of us in the @williamandmary family, but know that we turned every stone to save these beloved @TribeAthletics programs, and that our decision is final. #forthebold #forgingahead"

I agree that a fake Twitter account is stupid and childish. On the other hand, the fake tweet seems to pretty accurately reflect the College's actual position.

Following W&M’s announcement three weeks ago, we wanted to provide additional transparency to the details and data behind the decisions. On Wednesday, the Board of Visitors will conduct an in-person listening session where attendees may share feedback and address the Board. Live audio will be available. Next week, Director of Athletics Samantha K. Huge will also address the topic during a moderated virtual conversation. There is an updated FAQ available and a link to documents and data that went into the decision available at TribeAthletics.com. Really interesting document the department put out in their additional background information for the listening session. It seems possible that at some point we were looking to add softball and rowing.
Also that's just over $4M/year in scholarships to the 7 sports the AD cut but I had always heard, here and elsewhere, that many of those sports operated without scholarships.
